Riddle me this Campy
Last ride when going up hill I have gone to gear down the back cassette to climb out of the saddle, but each time it's dropped the front chain ring from the 53 to the 39. Second time it happened made sure left hand was no where near thumb shifter. Running SR-11 about 8 months old. Ideas?

your FD is probably not adjusted properly.

What cog are you in when this happened? The big/big is off limits and the second from largest will make quite a bit of noise with the big ring.
You might have the big ring limit screw a bit too tight, such that the last click is not seating well. Improper attachment of the shift cable has been a common mistake with this FD.

There's a big debate on whether the FD should require 3 or 4 clicks to cover the full range of travel. I've always set mine use 4. The first click of the thumb button then serves as a trim click to move the cage to the right. It is possible to set the FD to use only 3 clicks, but the big ring limit screw must be set for minimal clearance with the chain in the big ring and smallest cog. I've been able to use all of the cogs with this setup and not need the trim click. With the 3-click setup, there is no trim click from the big ring. One click of the thumb button will cause the cage to rub on the chain.
