Sure looks to be one of those^, so quite a mark-down from what the PO must have paid (not to mention the shipping and wait time) with just one paint chip and perhaps some minor wear from having been built up. But to my eye it looks little taller than 53cm, and I think most original San Cristobals were "square" dimensions, so the top tube would match the seat tube (this one says 55cm TT).
Will have to re-measure my OLDE San Cristobal to confirm that!
EDIT: Nope, my old San Cristobal (with the early graphics so definitely a Pelizzoli-built frame) was not "square" after all. The TT is about 2cm longer than the seat tube height (all measured C-to-C).

I believe that is the custom paint from Cannondale?
Edit: 1987 ST600

I had never read the fine print, that '87 's were available with and without the custom graphics

Is it just me or is this ad extremely weird?
Funny that he covered the signature on the “history” letter. Who refers to Edward Schwinn as “Eddie”? Did the frame really sit in inventory for about a decade when Schwinn was going thru financial difficulties? Also, no reference a a serial number documenting age.
The Raleigh owners manual refers to an International model. How does the seller know that it was only ridden 400 miles 50 years ago?
Sorry to be so persnickety.

I tried to create a subtle difference from my normal posts, the question marks and lack of pictures were meant to show my skepticism. Didn't quite belong in "wacky" but felt like it was worthy of sharing for the entertaining "history"

The Raleigh has the original sew up tires but will need to be reglued? LMAO!!! I think he means the tires will need to be REPLACED! The pump will not fit the frame but is period correct, so what good is the pump? And I doubt the pump seals work anymore, but it could be rebuildable, but those pumps on that bike used an umbrella clip, so the pump can mount to that bike, this guy knows very little about bikes. Mint condition that bike is worth $2,700 at a retail store selling used bikes, about $1,900 on a private sale.

The Schwinn, while it is a beautiful bike, isn't worth more than $2,000 for retail store price due to the smaller frame size.

Both bikes are beautiful bikes but the price he wants is ugly.

Someone can correct me if I'm too low on my price thoughts, but I don't think I am.

I think the frame has crash repair, front triangle when it did have images was just wrong. Was listed maybe currently on eBay also, medium blue metallic frame set.

Lot 247C: RENE HERSE LIGHT WEIGHT BICYCLE

Description

Rene Herse light weight bicycle. Ca. 1970's Estate bicycle. Needs tires and work. As is.

Was anyone here following this auction? Not my size (thankfully), but curious to see or know what it went for. Nowhere near MA, but don't know if I would have been able to resist if it was my size and, well, if I actually knew about it before the auction ended

I'm happy to hear your thoughts about it. I've been watching it for quite a while figuring that if ever he came down in price I'd ask your opinion of it.

It was at $475 well before it ended so I don't know what it closed at.

Despite being pretty rough I think about twice that would have been a good deal, almost went in on it even though I don't have a pot or window.

Just too upside down at present.

I was extremely tempted, particularly since I just happen to be in the area for a couple weeks, but convinced myself to resist as it's a bit too small and I've got other current financial priorities. I do wonder what it went for....
