Need replacement derailleur for old mtn bike - Falcon 0A0-T

Folks, novice bike mechanic here. I have a Mt Fury Roadster 12 speed that I think needs a new rear derailleur and maybe gears. The derailleur is a FALCON. The only other numbers I can find on it are on the back 0A0-T. I have had no luck finding a replacement. Any recommendations or guidance is greatly appreciated. I am trying to fix this for my son who doesn't have the funds for a new bike. Thank you in advance

Tried to post pictures i have of it but I have to make 10 posts it says.

Is it one of these?

https://www.disraeligears.co.uk/Site/...ml#Derailleurs (Click "Derailleurs" in the middle of the page.)

You should be able to easily replace it with a Sunrace like this one: https://www.amazon.com/Sunrace-RD-M1.../dp/B00JVK8VUG

When you do get above 10 posts, please post some pics, because you may not need to replace. What is the issue you are trying to solve?

That is a really bottom feeder RDER. (you don't find high level parts on a $50-70 bike)
A Shimano Tourney is a definite upgrade and not too expensive.

The right gear would not change speeds. It would start to change and just not hold. A bike shop said the derailleur was warped and they wanted a fortune to fix this old bike.

I suspect that the problem is with the shifter rather than the derailer. Does your shifter look something like this? The screw in the middle provides friction on the thumb shifter drum. If the screw is loose, it won’t hold. Try tightening it just a little (1/8 turn would be a lot). The proper adjustment should be such that the thumb shifter will turn but with resistance.

It could be, so I will try to work with that. The bike shop just said otherwise. The gear shift is an old falcon as well with the center screw like you noted.

You need the "claw mount" type.
You should check out the screw on the shifter 1st to see if it's that simple. Takes 8 seconds.

Depending on the age of the mechanic, they may not know that friction shifters have that adjustment. The derailer is just a robot that does what the shifter tells it to do.
