Unscrupulous seller
Seller on Craigslist claims this is a 2017 and made of carbon fiber. It is a 2009 and made of aluminum. It's on page 71 of the Cannondale 2009 catalog. When I presented this information to them in a polite manner, assuming they were just mistaken, they told me to "F__k off". What's wrong with people? There is even a bike fork in the photo background indicating they have bike knowledge. Please click on the ad link below and flag this ad to protect buyers. Thank you.

I couldn't help myself.
Good afternoon. I am interested in your bicycle but am very concerned about COVID. Can you please tell me how you sterilized the grips and seat?
Thanks,
Paul

Haha, you should see the classifieds in our local alternative to Craigslist. It is rare to see a bike listed older than 2015, even if it's glaringly obvious to anyone knowing a thing or two about bikes that half of those are from the past century.

Yes you have to watch them, some will claim stuff is ti or carbon when it probably is not by the look, others I worry are stolen especially when it's several parts all together.
Like this, could be ti but there are steel models too and there is not much detail.

I agree that something is definitely wrong with that bike, but I'm having troubles putting my finger on it.
It clearly says "Synapse" on the top tube. And, both the "Cannondale" and "Synapse" appear to be crooked.
As far as I can tell, the Syanpse was only offered in carbon fiber.
I downloaded a copy of the 2009 catalog:
https://www.cannondale.com/-/media/f...ikecatalog.pdf
The bike above is clearly NOT on page 73. However, there is an aluminum "Six Feminine" on page 72.
There are several differences between the bike above and the 2009 Six Feminine. The bike above appears to have a non-round seat tube, and more definition to the shape of the other tubes.
As far as I can tell, the Synapse was only made in Carbon Fiber.
So, at this point, just about anything goes.

Bike Registry Index Stolen recovery
The Bike Registry or Bike Index (click this) is a website where you can post details, picture and Serial Number of your bike along with your contact info.
Should your bike ever be stolen this helps in two ways.
1. If offered for sale, a lot of buyers will check that the bike Serial # they are about to buy and make sure its not hot.
Nobody really wants to pay good money for stolen property. If caught you'll loose the bike and your money as a minimum.
2. If the police find your bike, they use these registries to reunite it with you.
And all this for the pricey sum of $0 I believe (maybe a donation)

Possibly a made in America sticker on the top tube. Was Cannondale making bikes here in 2009?

While it definitely is not from 2017, I believe it is a carbon fiber frame. And that those decals are applied properly. When viewed from the side, those decals look fine. Bad camera angle in the supplied pictures makes them look crooked.
Notice the little bulge in the rear of the seatpost? Cannondale only did that on their carbon fiber Synapse and not on the aluminum models.
I've owned a 2006 Synapse Alloy 4 since it was new and it is definitely made of aluminum.

Upon a quick google search it looks like the seat tube bulge is a 2008 feature, while the decals correspond with 2009.
