Near the end of the improved road to Waitsfield Gap on a four-day bikepacking trip. The last mile was a push over steep big rocks--it felt like climbing into the Vermont version of a cloud forest. I walked most of it. The Miyata 1000 wasn't very well suited to the off-road parts of the ride, but I managed. I was glad I had built strong new wheels with a 40-spoke rear.

About 15 minute's ride from my NYC Upper West Side apartment there's an organic farm on Randall's Island where I met a few girls yesterday.

Can confirm the Speckled Sussex and RI Red. Not sure bout the Wyandotte. There's about a dozen of 'em revving up for production.
Many moons ago there was a working farm down the road from our suburban home. I would being the kids when I went to buy eggs and they enjoyed giving the hens names. One was all black very shiny. My son dubbed it "Cluck Kent"

I can’t believe how many “free range” chickens live in California. 🤔🙄😁 I just got woke up by one this morning, and it wasn’t from crowing, lol, the darn thing was afraid to walk past me, & couldn’t quite come up with an alternate plan. 🤔😁

Hey, I can vaguely remember the old “put a tiger in your tank” commercials, from the ‘60s. 😎👍😎
This dude crept up on me yesterday, as I was resting on a bench, on the bike path along the American River, near Sacramento. 😳
I didn’t see him anywhere when I sat down, but he came out from under the bench I was on, then turned right, and sat under my wheel. 🤔😁 He was obviously a youngster, maybe a foot long, but also obviously a rattlesnake, lol, which I had no real strong inclination to wrassle with. 😁 A local dude came along, and grabbed a big enough stick/tree branch, to shove the snake back towards the weedy area. I felt a little un-manly for a bit, lol, but at least I didn’t get bitten. 😁 The local dude just laughed, said no biggie. 😉
