Time to 'fess up' whoever did this
Did someone travel to Utah lately and engage in a little mischievous activity while there?

Its either a fan of "2001:A Space Odessey" or of the band The Who.

I was disappointed after reading the title of the article. I was hoping for something epically large, but instead it looks like a section of A/C duct.

I too was hoping for a large black monolith a'la 2001. Loved the comment that one of the guys made... "So if either of us were to suddenly disappear, the other was gonna run like heck."

They're now saying this visible piece is the very top of an enormous and deliberately buried obelisk. Initial carbon dating puts it somewhere between 35 and 40,000 years old. And it's now emitting such a high frequency piercing sound that no one dare get close enough to find out more...

Don't we have folks here from Utah? They found the thing on Google Earth, so we have the coordinates. Looks like a fun ride, BLM land.
I wonder (a) if there are more scattered about in remote places, and (b) how long before the viral/social campaign related to this pops up. There has to be something, right?

Some people went looking through Google Earth, and discovered that it was installed some time between 8/2015 and 8/2016.

Apparently the culprits were caught by a surveillance camera.

Not sure who they are.

My guess - IT was a communications device used by aliens living underground, and they retracted it to prevent discovery

I heard the monolith broadcast the software update to the Dominion voting machines. Since it has disappeared, that theory cannot be disproven.

One of these dumb things cropped up in California this weekend and was promptly knocked over by some live-streaming bonkers racists who were apparently concerned about illegal space aliens who they worry don't share their values
