YEah, we got snow and frigid Temps yesterday. SUCKS.
I made the mistake of looking @ houses in N.Carolina on zwillow yesterday. I would really like to move there but I don't know how my daughter would take it.

Hey John, I’ve often wondered what draws some people to be devoted members of this forum, and what keeps MOST other people away. I’m assuming somewhere along the line you and TJ have invited other guys in your group of regulars to become members, what are their reasons for declining?

It's apples to oranges because there's way more cars during the latter.
I'm not too big, I'm too fat. There's a difference.
It did that here three months ago.

You know it's been a cold week, when you walk out into 25F weather and think "it's kind of warm today."

I'm that way except about 5° warmer. We are in the teens at the moment and won't see plus 30s with clear roads for awhile, I'm afraid.

We only got a couple of inches but it drifted enough to make the commute yesterday morning interesting.
Forecast is for another 3-4" this weekend.

I've been a member of the SFVBC since 1989. A road club with up to 500 members at times, people have found the club on-line and on BF and many of them have joined the club.
I talk about BF on rides sometimes and a few people I know have joined but lose interest after a while. Like the road club, people come and go and have different reasons for leaving. There is a lot of competing social media these days. One guy even started his own forum called SoCal Bike Forums and it lasted a few years.
TJ is a great climber and does double century type rides often. I only ride with him when he wants to slow down and chat. He is also as nice a person as you could ever meet.
Of the people who joined our club through BF, Cassave is one who has stuck around for years. Here he is riding his garage built bike on the road we were on yesterday. This is the frame he featured on the framebuilder forum. How to build a lugged steel frame, with pics - Bike Forums

Can the new guy ask what might be a stupid question or one with an obvious answer?
Looking more at the trainer/Zwift idea so I can get some saddle time in the mornings before work. Most likely will go with a Wahoo product. Riding outdoors in my hood during the rush hours is out of the question for me.
The thing would go in our workout room where I have a TV on the wall and the ability to connect the TV to a Windows laptop. I have an Android phone and iPad. My stupid question is if I run Zwift on the laptop so I can view on the TV, how does the trainer connect to the laptop? Or, is there another way to set it all up that I am just totally not seeing? Is there anything I need other than the smart trainer such as some sort of dongle to connect the trainer to the laptop?

The majority of relatively recent laptops should have the requisite bluetooth communications to connect to the trainer. If it doesn't, get a dongle.

EDIT: For the ANT+ sensors, I have an ANT+ dongle ("Ant Stick") plugged into a 6' USB extension cable. That end of the cable is in a baggie (sweat!) and I put that on the floor behind the front wheel.

They got more snow south of us and I think they may be getting more today. Anyway, I think our forecast for the weekend is about the same as yours.
