Mary Ann was the hottest but Gilligan had no chance
Not making fun of her passing I had/have a crush on Mary Ann.

I saw her at the Philly indoor boat show in the early 90s. She was promoting her cookbook.
Not mentioned in the article is that she founded a now defunct company that made clothing for the elderly and physically challenged. When censors became uneasy about her navel showing she helped design the shorts that covered it up.
Another interesting bit of trivia: She and the professor, played by Russell Johnson, were mentioned in the original opening credits as “the rest.” Bob Denver (Gilligan) didn’t like that and was instrumental in getting the opening credits changed for the next two seasons. Wells and Johnson remained friends until his death from prostate cancer. Every year they would send each other birthday cards signed “The Rest.”

Yeah, I'm old enough to remember the first season of Gilligan's Island and the original theme song that ended "and the rest."
Even as a kid I knew that "the professor and Mary Ann" scanned just as well without messing up the tempo, because there was a longish rest before the drawn-out "annnd the rest". First time I remember being infuriated by TV. But not the last.
Good to see Bob Denver was, umm... instrumental? no, vocal... in fixing that mess. Because it was probably Gilligan's fault for eating the coconut that the professor and the songwriters needed to record and broadcast the theme song.
