1994 Lemond GLX
Hello, my name is Jared and I am the service manger for a shop in the San Diego area. A local widow brought me her husband's old bike to sell for her, and it would appear to be a 1994 GLX number 38/100. She has all the documents. What would the approximate value of this bike be, in excellent condition?

Can you provide more details like what parts are on it? Also if you can create a gallery with pictures in it one of us can then share the pictures. Or you can spend some time here reading through and commenting on posts until you are able to post the pictures yourself. I can't remember for sure how much mine sold for, I'll have to see if I made a note of it anywhere.

Unfortunately I can't even post a link until I've hit 10 posts.
But it's got a Campagnolo C-Record groupo with Delta brakes.54/39 with a 7 speed corncob freewheel. Campy hubs and Mavic rims.

You missed the point by jamesdak above. You can upload pics to your gallery. Regular members can help by posting a link to your gallery, like this,
https://www.bikeforums.net/g/user/577037
All you really need to do is open an earlier post to edit or add a new one. The "Upload" button will be on the toolbar and allow you to select pics to add to your gallery. You don't need to actually post, only use the upload function. Then your pics will be visible at the link above.

That's a very nice bike. Hopefully you'll get some good estimates on it's value. Good luck on the sale.

We may sell it off the sales floor, but I would likely list it on OfferUp, Facebook Marketplace, or possibly eBay.

I don't mind auctioning the bike, but I would prefer to do it with a reserve, or have a firm buy it now price. According to Bicycle Blue Book, it has a maximum value of $266, which seems ridiculously cheap.

That's a great looking bike! I'd love to try one of those frames. I agree $270 is way too low, I would be surprised this bike is actually in a blue book as it most likely would have been sold as a frame and then a "Kit" of your choice.

I would think any famous name frame with Delta equipped C-Record in great condition would fetch at least $2000.

If I don't say it, somebody else will: you will get far more value by parting it out.
Hardcore buyers will love the frameset, but usually will choose other components for themselves.
The brakeset, shifters, derailleurs, crankset, and wheelset, alone, will fetch over a grand.
Selling as a complete bike - in that size - might not derive much more.
A frameset with that provenance and documentation ought to be worth close to a thousand, in my estimation.
Only eBay with their worldwide shipping and audience; never offerup, marketplace, or craigslist. Yuck.
Maybe try listing here for $1,500, including domestic shipping. The BF membership costs only twelve bucks.

Offer Up and FB marketplace are both low prices too, great place to buy. I buy a lot of bikes on both of these platforms. I would never SELL on them. That leaves eBay. Get some great pictures with a neutral background. GLWTS!

That’s an eBay item, I agree. Buy it now at the price she would want/deserve, and start bidding on the higher side.
Reserves are tricky on eBay. I don’t mess with them.
It’ll take awhile, but should sell eventually.

Run of the mill production Lemonds, circa 2000+/-, like a Zurich, are selling for $700+.
People like the brand and the story - having his name attached and a limited run model... you work in a high end shop, put it on the floor see what the interest is. Could be low, could be high - but I can see that bike selling for $1500-2k range.

There is an active Vintage group in San Diego - Vintage Cycling San Diego. They have a facebook page and at least one of the members is a LeMond bike expert. If you have facebook access, I would suggest that group as a resource.
Hope this helps
