Another commute on the CX bike brings my mileage this month so far up to 82.

The real exciting number is 199. That's what I saw on the scale this morning. Working hard and eating better is getting results.

8/1: 10 miles . Commute
8/2: 47 miles - Commute (10miles) + Recreation (37 miles)
8/3: 10 miles. Commute
8/4: 8 miles. Commute got delayed 1-mile from the diner which took up a few hours in which case I figured my business partner could handle everything on her own and I turned around and went home. I've been tired from everything going on the past couple weeks(work and personal life related), my diet is taking a hit as I'm allowing junk food into my life again.
8/5: 15 miles. Commute (10miles) + 5 mile r/t delivery around noon.

MTD: 80 miles (Goal 200 (?) I think I said earlier in this thread plus survive a 100 mile ride in decent time (<8 hrs would be nice)

That's awesome! And a solid 199.0 too!

More overtime and afternoon rain for me, mileage 0.

Wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't sitting in an 85° small office most of the day for 10-11 hours. I'm exhausted by the time I get home or I would go out on the wet roads. Some of them might be a bit too muddy though.

Funny how when the AC breaks in the front management offices, it's fixed within the hour. We're going on 4 years trying to cool a room in the rafters of a pole building with for 2000L water vessels at 350° right outside and they just keep replacing the 12,000 BTU AC unit that can't cool the room with another 12,000 BTU AC unit. Must be nice to be management and not have sweat rolling down your back working on the computer like we have.

First ride back for me after the 8 weeks off (for the second time in less than a year) was right at 14 mph. 3 months later the tan lines were crisp

8/2 - 39
8/4 - 7
8/5 - 10
8/6 - 10 (so far, planning 20 more tonight)

66 MTD, which leaves 284 left to go for my goal. Behind a few miles as I was supposed to have ridden 24 on 8/3 but I overdid it on the barley pops on the 2nd and felt like crap the next morning.

thanks for the motivation.

The hardest part from such event is knowing what level I left off at and coping w/ that. From training to race the BWR 130mi/13k to barely able to muster 15mi........I find it very frustrating.

I know the frustrating feeling. Knew what my pFTP was before the surgery. After the surgery and a few weeks on the bike I had lost 12%. 8 weeks and a tonne of work later I'd regained the lost bit and surpassed my old pFTP number to a new pFTP number .

Mind you I still get dropped on a regular basis by my team mates but it does take them longer...

8/1: 10 miles . Commute
8/2: 47 miles - Commute (10miles) + Recreation (37 miles)
8/3: 10 miles. Commute
8/4: 8 miles. - Commute (sorta)
8/5: 15 miles. - Commute and work-related errand
8/6: 20 miles. Commute (10) + fitness (10). FINALLY got around to shifting into the big ring and having the ability to spin at a comfortable cadence.

MTD: 110 miles.

Going to be an interesting next couple days, the weatherman has reported rain in the forecast. I've rode in snow AND rain before, but I don't enjoy it. May just take advantage of having the new car.
On the plus side, this weekend looks great and I'm considering riding the bike to a town about 50 miles away for a vintage car show (I know, how ironic!) and a historical festival of sorts that is also going on. It all depends on how the kid is feeling, and if she's still up for a 100 mile ride.

Went to my BA meeting yesterday afternoon after work. What is a BA meeting you ask? Biker Anonymous.

"Hi, my name is Mike and it's been 10 days since I last rode my bike."

"Hi Mike."

[Followed not with clapping but with boo's]

LOL

Finally no rain after work. Was in the garage airing up the tires getting ready to head out on the road while the wife and kids swam in the pool. I look up and my oldest is standing there, "Can I go with you? You going to Elmenton?"

"Yes, I most certainly am heading down to the trail, I'll get your bike aired up!"

Rode out to the tunnel. She wanted to go up to see Freedom Falls (pic.) The falls are up a heavily graveled road on the other side of the tunnel, but I don't know how far . She didn't want to try to ride up the hill so we walked up around the first bend. I went there by car from the other side not long ago and don't know how far it is coming from the trail. We walked up around the next bend and still didn't see the spot. She was done walking up the hill by now so we turned around and headed back to the trail. She wasn't paying attention once and put her front wheel off in the grass and went down when coming back up on the pavement. Got scraped up a bit, but was fine. Took us about 1:20 to ride the 12 miles including the walk up the hill. Map my Ride tells me 9 mph, a little slow but I was surprised that I could still feel it in the legs later in the evening. Cruising speed was about 11 mph and I find it very difficult to ride that slow so she can keep up behind me.

8/6 - 12 miles

MTD - 12 miles

YTD - 566 I think, still not beating last year starting out on the Walmart bike

Another uneventful commute on my CX bike brings this months total mileage up to 105.

A little bit different commute planned for today. Morning is same old route. Coming home I detour to meetup with some friends for a nice social ride (12-15 miles). Have a beer. Ride the rest of the way home (4 miles and a big hill). Love Thursdays. Nice break to mindless commuting.

I did a @jsigone empathy ride last night where I averaged 15.0 mph.
The amount of stuff that you actually can see on the sides of the road is amazing. Nuts, bolts and even wiper blades. How in the world do folks lose wiper blades off their cars?!

135mi for the month and 1014mi for the season. Weight down to 228. I have two more weeks of "robust" training before I taper down for the DALMAC bike tour the last week of August. That tour will be approx 330 miles over 4 days.

I have 80-mile rides planned with my tour group over the next 2 weekends.

My August goal (a bit of a longshot) is 1000 miles.
