5/1- 11.53 exercise bike
5/2- 22.52 road bike
5/3- 9.7 road bike
5/4- 9.0 road bike
5/5- 9.03 road bike
5/6- 15.25 road bike.

I rode down to the LBS to get a proper fitting. Raised my seat, moved my cleats and adjusted my bars so the hoods were in the right spot. We also decided to replace the stock saddle which he had to order. The result on my return trip was increasing my avg mph by 1.4 without much perceived difference in effort. I am happy with that!

MTD- 77.03 miles

Just 10 miles today. Something didn't feel right on the first 5, stopped and made sure everything looked okay(nothing loose, rubbing, etc), no physical issues so I just turned back. I figure it was probably my body telling me I need to eat more than a bowl of cereal and a banana almost 12 hours prior to a ride (Always the most obvious answer!). Anyway my stupidity gave me a window of opportunity to finally wipe down the road salt and grime from my late winter riding and re-lube.

5/4: 25 miles
5/6: 10 miles

MTD: 35 miles (0.12%) / 300 miles

I'd love to see 500 for the month, but life often intervenes. Shooting for 5 riding days per week, 20 for the month, as May is my last "month of freedom" before the kids are out for the summer, and riding time will drop quite a bit, I'm afraid. Kids at home combined with the rapidly approaching SoCal summer, I'll be lucky to manage ~20 mile rides June - August.

Decided to take a different route home. Increased the commute home to 7 miles (I know, that is nothing for most commuters) and at least I got some riding in after getting to work at 2:30 AM for a deployment. Got drizzled on a couple times and got to use my helmet cover which worked nicely. Took a road that I thought was going to be easier and instead it was a steeper and longer road than the Sunnyside exit ramp. With limited sleep and a long day at work (left at 10:45 AM), I pushed and wouldn't give up until I cleared the top. The hill was nicely paved but the rest of the industrial area was riddled with pock marks worse than a teenage boy. It ended up exiting onto Sunnyside Blvd and was a short hope from there to get home. Only wish they would fill the craters b/c it would be a nice challenge to add to my rides.

Woke up this morning a little late but still managed a 13.3 mile ride at 5 AM.

I will say I am envious of those who have a safe route to ride to and from home. Mine takes a Highway service road or a busy set of roads with poor shoulders. I might try it again since it definitely made for an even better day.

I spoke too soon. Rear wheel failure on day 2 finished the tour for me. It was fun while it lasted.

I broke a few of my PRs on it. Got 82 miles in one ride. Climbed over 4500 feet on that ride. Rode between 4,000-7,000 feet elevation and survived

5-6 hardly worth a mention... 2.4 miles.
5-7 so far a 6.5 mile commute. Will add 30-40 more this evening getting to the group ride and then doing the LBS group ride.

at somewhere between 200-230lbs (no scale to weigh myself) and 6'0" on the dot I rode 100 miles (actually 103.7 miles) with 5,400' of elevation change on May 2nd. This month I think I'm at 150 mi already. I wanna get 800 for the month. I have another century before the end of the month and a lot of daily riding to start on. It's nice out - go out there and bike!

-Red

May 1 - 10 miles commute to work (round trip)
May 2 - 103.7 miles Century ride
May 5 - 10 miles commute to work (round trip)
May 6 - 20 miles commute to work (round trip) + lunch ride + riding around town at night

Sunny, warm day today, wind was almost nonexistent (just the way I like it) so I went out for 25 miles, ended up doing 30. About 10 miles into the ride I received a call I never should have answered, ended up spending 30-40 min sitting on a park bench for a work-related teleconference. Right before the call ended, some woman decided to sit down next to me to breastfeed her baby. Feeling a bit uncomfortable, I just got back on my bike. I realize it's a totally natural thing to do, but what kind of mom would choose to do that at a public park with kids around and right next to a stranger? Anyway, the rest of the ride was perfect, made record time or so I think since I forgot to turn my bike computer back on. As a former ride buddy of mine used to say, "You don't need a clock on a bicycle, just ride free."

5/4: 25 miles
5/6: 10 miles
5/7: 30 miles

MTD: 65 miles (0.22%) / 300 miles

I want to join the party! I mainly bike for transportation / errands. But it would be awesome to set a goal. 100 miles seems perfect for me. Especially considering that if I ad a bike ride to the train station on my commute that is only 2-3 miles a day. Weekend errands tend to end up in the 6-10 mile range.

To hit this goal, I need to "bike to work" a few days a week and find more errands to do! I am also logging in on the National Bike Challenge.

As of today I am at 36 miles for the month!

Woke up early (4:15 AM) and was out the door by 4:45 AM. Boy was it foggy. Turning on my helmet mounter light and I got completely whited out. Instead put the headlight on the bars on medium and put the helmet light on flasher with a bit more up than out. Didn't see light until 5:15 or so and I had next to no range of vision the entire morning ride. This is when it is good to be on a dedicated bike path.

Got home and found out visibility was ZERO!!!

Fun and quiet ride though.
