Spasms in my back or neck this week has slowed things down. Wife and I missed a 45 mile group ride yesterday and only did 1 weekday ride this week. But we did 33.1 miles today (which was almost 5 above our previous long ride) and other than a bit of stiffness in my neck I feel like I could go out for more. We've got a 15-20 mile group ride scheduled for Thursday and are planning to do 30-40 miles Saturday (riding group is going to Santa Fe Century but we can't go... we'll have our ride!). So hopefully I can make up some lost time.

Crossed the 100 mile mark today. My road bike is still out of commission, so I am fighting for miles on a poorly geared mountain bike. Also, we are getting hit by a hurricane/typhoon tomorrow, so I guess no riding for a couple of days. See you guys on the other side.

5/1 : 21.4 miles (ride to work, ride to lunch, ride home) - Road Bike
5/3 : 16.4 miles - Mountain Bike
5/7 : 18.6 miles - Mountain Bike
5/8 : 7.7 - Mountain Bike
5/10 : 21.1 - Mountain Bike
5/11 : 22.6 = Mountain Bike

MTD =
107.8 Miles
3795ft Total Climb

I have to say I love reading about everyone's rides and the strides they are making. Really is inspiring to me. Thanks for writing about your fun and challenges.

For em, Mothers' day took a toll and I wasn't able to break away and ride. I wanted to pamper the wife and entertain the guests we were hving to the best of our abilities.

This morning I rode for 18.9 miles. Gratefully the fog wasn't as bad as last week so I was able to see where I was going and be seen.

I must say I am enjoying outdoor riding more than the trainer and the couple of hills have been getting easier. I have been attacking them with more speed and conquering them in less time. Progress above all feel great.

60 miles is a lot when you are only 10 days into the month. Tell that to some folks that don't bike and watch their eyes glaze over.

Keep it up

I'm aiming for 500 miles this month:

So far: 148 miles.

Last day of the month is a 68 mile charity ride, but even with that I'm going to have to up my work rate!

That is nearly PoundSign Epic! if you were part of the Clyde & Athena group on Strava you'd be in 6th place!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement! This month so far has been a huge accomplishment for me. I have never biked so much in such a short period of time. I'm looking forward to doing much much more!

Going from 537 lbs 16 months ago to now 338 now and being able to ride like this is really exciting and freeing.

I'm going to shortly post some before and current pictures. I'm not yet at the after, I have another 130 or so lbs to lose!

It's not a race against others, just yourself. I got a lot of motivation watching others' numbers, but it really isn't the point.

There's a bit of accountability that comes from posting your goals, even if for whatever reason you don't make them. I'm just as happy for someone who posts a goal that is even smaller than the title's guideline of 100 miles as I am for seeing someone hit much larger numbers. I remember seeing goals of 40 miles for a month

Everyone is at a different level of fitness here, and a few times around the block might be all one is ready for. But going out and doing it (especially when it's really easy to be down on yourself) is just as impressive as someone completing any other personal milestone.

I'm so glad to find this thread! My seasonal goal is to maintain 100 m/p/w, which I did regularly two years ago. That's also the last time I saw 220lbs (I'm 245 as of last night). I've done 45 miles for the month, but I've only gotten out twice. I'm going to aim for 120 miles this month and see how close I get.

Take plenty of pictures of the journey. A few people lost lots of weight and mentioned regretting not having more pictures during their losing days. Hell some may be really complimentary and make you wonder who the guy in that picture is. Even if you are not where you want to be yet. Wife got one of me while we were getting ready on a cold day. I was wearing my leggings and drinking some coffee. It was a perfect angle and the actual picture probably looks like me about 50 lbs from now. In my mind, I haven't looked like that since high school. Other than having a bit less hair on my head and a bit more on my face that is
