Shimano tourney crank on Sora bike?

The front sprockets on my road bike are starting to look like sharks teeth.

However, the price for a Sora crank is 3-4 times the price of a Tourney, and I'm guessing it's mostly down to marketing. Can I mix a tourney crank with a Sora groupset?

Not just marketing. Tourney is pretty bottom of the barrel stuff. Heavy steel arms pressed on to a one-piece spider/chainring set, compared to Sora aluminum arms with separate chainrings. Also, depending on the age of the bike and original crankset, Sora uses a more modern 'external' bottom bracket design and is 'two piece' (R Arm+ Rings+ BB spindle and L arm that clamps on to the spindle) construction. So if you get the Tourney you will probably have to change bottom brackets to the older 'square taper' style. All that being said, yes, the Tourney will work if you get the right bottom bracket for it, but it probably won't last as long as the original Sora stuff - that's the primary difference between lower end stuff and more expensive stuff. It may not shift as well, either, but will likely be acceptable.

Question: Is this question about the 62cm bike you were asking about two weeks ago? That seems awfully quick to wear out anything on a bike, esp. the chainrings.

It's not that straightforward with bottom tier stuff wearing out faster than a couple tiers higher marketed components. Steel can be more durable than aluminium, if it's not a very cheap version of steel. There are several versions of Tourney components, and it is conceivable that some could outlast aluminum used on Sora. But it sure will be heavier, and if the intended chain differs more than 1 spd, other problems might arise too.
That said, replaceable chainrings are definitely a bonus you don't get with Tourney.

Are you looking at the price for the whole crank or just the chainring(s)? If the teeth are worn, you only need to replace the rings that have worn out, which might be just one.

There's something to be said for square taper, and not much wrong with Tourney rings. I personally have been known to go cheaper still, not all that much more weight once you get over the idea of it, and many thousands of trouble free miles on those "low end" cranksets

No

It's for my road bike. Recently put on a new cassette and new wheels, and noticed the large chainring in front is looking jagged.

Just the large chainring in the front. They cost almost the same as a new crankset, so figured it makes more sense to replace the crankset.
