@Phamilton, your saddle's rails are not parallel to the top surface. That's OK, and there is no standard angle. That explains why it doesn't work for you, but the seatpost would work with other saddles.

@Phamilton, yes, that's coarse, and some seatpost have more than that. Some seatpost are micro-adjustable, which some people need. I've always managed to find a good angle even with the coarsest seat clamp, so I'm either lucky or unpicky. You definitely need a new seatpost.

Added an electric pedal assist to my cargo bike for commuting when I need groceries or carrying heavy loads to and from work.

A mid-range Japanese "C&V" bike with a chrome molybdenum steel frame. I switched the DT shifters to SunTour bar ends, mounted new kevlar belted tires, replaced the brake pads, added a bottle cage and mounts, added a Greenfield rubber tip to the kick stand, and cleaned and greased all the bearings. I use Nashbar Day Trekker bags on the back. A solid and reliable commuter.

LET'S ROLL
After many years of commuting 16.5 miles one way to my job; I moved closer about a year and a half ago.
So my commute is either a 10 minute ride; or a 15 minute walk. Most of the time; I just walk.
Started a part time job a few weeks ago. Farther downtown from my apartment. Bike commuting again, yey!
New helmet time, might as well get a new commuter too.

This 1976 Motobecane Grand Jubile made its first commute today. I put about $200.00 into it, to get it road worthy again. When I have more cash, I'll explore some new rubber, fenders and a rack.

Very nice! Love the colored head tube, chrome 'socks' on the fender, fluted crankarm, lots of great touches on there!

Like the looks of my new Jamis Coda Comp.
Transfered most parts from my old commuter (Alu frame started to crack).
Added a kickstand and still have to transfer wheels and lights.
First steel frame (at least as an adult): smooth ride, helped by the nice Vittoria Randonneur tires.

Just purchased this framed x300 this week as my first "decent" bike for commuting.
Already swapped the saddle and added front brake. So far I really like it since it's light and an easy to maintain machine
