Shimano CS-M9100 cassette work with CN-M7100 chain?

I have a bike that has a CN-M7100 chain along with an XT 12 speed cassette that came with the bike when I bought it. It has a 10-51 spread and I'd rather have their 10-45 but I'd like to go with the XTR. I see that my current cassette on Shimano's site the "Compatible chain" is "HG 12-speed". But when I look at the CS-M9100 XTR cassette I see it says in "Compatible chain" is "CN-M9100". Would my CN-M7100 really not work with just an upgraded cassette from XT -> XTR?

When I looked those up I saw that they share a shop manual so they are likely just different levels of a compatible part. In general all chains designated for a particular speed group, 9, 10, 11, 12 are compatible across all brands and levels. That's why KMC only needs to make one kind of chain for each. They are Campy/SRAM/Shimano compatible. When I bought XT 10 speed Dynasys a number of years ago they recommended a specific chain as well, but I bought KMC and it was fine. I used an identical chain on my Chorus 10 equipped road bike when I got tired of paying Campy prices for them.

CS-M9100 is compatible with CN-M7100. The only differences between CN-M7100, CN-M8100, CN-M9100 are coatings.
