Brooks B-17 vs Brooks B-17 Special

Was wondering if anyone has any experience with the B-17 Special and what your thoughts are on it.

On both my bikes, I have the b-17 which I love but curious what the b-17 special is like for touring.

The difference comes down to bigger and flatter copper rivets (so pants/shorts don't get easily snagged) and copper railings featured on the Special. For those living in high humidity, warm and near the ocean, I think this saddle is a good investment. The Special withstands rust much better than the regular B17. I believe reading somewhere that the quality of hide used on the B17 Special is also different. It is supposed to be more durable, but I can't confirm this on Brooks' website. The other big bonus is looks, the B17 Special is a gorgeous saddle. Comfort and feel between the two saddles are the same.

& the skirt got a tapered edge..
the Select is the one with special hide, said to be from Grass 'finished' cattle
rather than feedlot fed in mass corrals..

hide on those is not dyed, so use and the Proofide absorption are the color.

I've had multiple B17s, B17 Specials and Team Pros. My general observation has been that the B17 Special, along with copper rivets/rails, also has thicker leather (and chamfered edges). To be totally honest I prefer the comfort of the B17 standard even though I like the appearance of the special. At my weight, 150lbs, the thinner leather on the B17 is just more comfortable.

My B17 Standard:
