You know what I'm talking about.
You've got a great quiver of bikes to choose from, there's one for every occassion. But the Big Dog goes OB from time to time, sometimes you fan that one, it catches a little thin, hits a flier, hooks, shanks, skulled, fatted, chili-dipped, bladded, and three wiggled some of the others.
But the 7-iron never misses.
For me, it's Big Red.

I need a 7 iron for multiple emotional disorder - some days are fast, others more leisurely, and likely other distinctions.
I will have to edit.
The AustroDaimler for wet, damp, chance-of-rain days = fendered but still sharp.
The DeRosa for racy vintage rides, it's a Pro.
And the Merckx Corsa Extra if I were going supported across the USA.
Somehow rear fender not in this pic of AD

I think it is my vastly modified Peugeot Corbier aka P4. A Carbolite frame so decent to ride, with good parts and wheels. It is not a spectacular ride but is always enjoyable, no matter what I have in mind.

Gotta be the Zieleman. Whenever I can't decide what to ride, I grab this one. There's just nothing about it that's "off"... except the lack of brake hoods, which I'm thinking of dealing with pretty soon.

Old and Slow
Old and slow, so no real fast stuff for me, but hoping to up the speed this year with new to me Ironman. Had this Super Sport since 1975, and it is pleasant and reliable, but no longer pretty.

Off road, it has to be my Yeti SB5 plus. Nicest mtb I've yet to ride. Way more than I likely need, but don't we all occasionally go overboard on our bikes?
Paved roads, it would have to be my Hollands. EL-OS is still my favorite tubeset. This one is so versatile, I even bought a Tubus Fly rack this winter for panniers.

It really has varied over the years - with there being a distinct tendency for the new bike to be in favor. Having added/modified several bicycles over the past 5 years, and also living where it isn't conducive to just hop on the bike and ride from my house, I'm not really sure.
Over the years, the '72 Fuji Finest has been the most consistent, but it's been bumped by a number of bikes I've wanted to try to love more than it. It languished for a period as I racked up miles on a Bob Jackson that was a bit too small for me. Similarly to a Miyata 210 and a Surly Long Haul Trucker (both of which followed that Bob Jackson out the door). Then there was the newer Bob Jackson, and then the the Viking Severn Valley (the Severn Valley has now moved along as well).
Having said that, I do expect that it will be supplanted by either/both the Raleigh International that I got from Sloar, or the Competizione that gugie worked up for me. So at this point, I'm just not sure.
