I was struggling with the connector on my SP hub the other day, they can be a bit tight if left on for a long time. I think I have seen one report of problems with the Shimano/SP style connector, it's just that we see it over and over again.

I never had a problem with my Shimano connector, except that I forgot it was there one time when I had a flat. I pulled the wires out. Easy to fix.
