Finally a topic that I can relate to. Well maybe not lol. 40 and above its basketball shorts and a t-shirt. It's takes just a few minutes to get warmed up. Anything under 40 is a long sleeve t-shirt and some jogging pants. I should mention I'm a super Clyde at 300lbs and I'm always hot regardless of weight. I still break a good sweat in 50 degree weather.

Shorts, short sleeved shirt, thin fingered gloves, glasses to break wind on the eyes, normal warm weather footwear, skull cap under helmet to keep wind off the ears. Comfy!

aaaaand we're back. after several 60 F days we're back in the 50 F days. i'm wearing midweight l/s shirt and pant and a thick wool sock, but in 50+ F weather i would switch it out to a thin wool sock.

so bizarre the December we're having so far...!

Last week when it was in the 50s, I didn't even wear my jacket. I just had a short sleeve jersey on top. My tights are pretty warm, so that contributed to my overall warmth. My arms got just a little cold. Oh, I wore mittens, so they helped, and I'm sure I looked silly with a short sleeved jersey and mittens.

For commuting to work I often wear a lightweight high-visibility vest as an outer layer. I bought one with pockets specifically for storing gloves! Very easy to switch to thinner gloves that way. Thin or even medium thick gloves can easily be switched / tucked away.

Others use a kick-stand, or have a bag on their crossbar etc.

I have not read the thread. Shorts, socks, shoes, t-shirt, and a light sweater jacket. Add fleece lined pants, one more upper body layer, Ear Head Band, and heavier gloves in the winter.

I kept telling a woman today how the mid 40's is not bad cycling weather, and summer is horrible (At least around here it is). Women seem to not get this. Of course none of these people cycle, and are older, some are smokers.......

Late October had a few perfect days. You could give me the upper 60's for highs all year round.

If it is over 50F then shorts and short sleeves. Knee warmers below that and long sleeve below 45. Wool socks below 40.

Lately when it's 45-50F, I wear all my winter clothes, i.e. long pants, a base layer, a shirt, a hat, something on my neck, gloves, but no jacket at all. My new approach to layers is to bring extras and add if I get cold rather than starting out warm and peeling layers off. Today I carried two jackets and didn't wear either one in the morning.

the heat is such pain especially if you're riding in the tropical country. i would for soft bike jersey has no definitive brands. but i always keep my self hydrated

50 degrees can mean a lot of changing scenarios. If there's very little ambient wind and I'm not moving very fast due to riding with slower commuters or just being in slower traffic and the sun is shining Ill dress in medium to fair weather gear. (arm warmers. A base layers. Maybe two baselayers. Knee warmers probably. Extra socks. Neck and extra head gear maybe. If I'm riding slower I'm not getting hit with as much windchill yet riding slower I'm not producing as much heat. . . usully 50 is going to have some breezes and especially on descents the windchill can be brutal. 55 degrees riding in shade cover by trees ? I'll dress in almost everything I have except thermal tights and deep winter gear. I find my body warms up and cools down on a ride so instead of wasting energy trying to stay warm I'd rather always be between comfortable and a little hot. With the right layers that wick and breathe im usually riding with people who are wearing short sleeves and shorts while I'm wearing what they'd consider 30 degree gear and face masks etc . But I'm comfy in it at 65.. Everyone is different ..can't really know what works for you until you do your own trial and error.

If it's 50 F in September, I wear something warm. If it's 50F in March, I wear something cool.

Normal office clothing -- slacks, shirt, tie, and jacket. These conditions are ideal because they require no overcoat, gloves, or other preparation -- out the door, jump on the bike, and go.

55F is about the bottom of my normal riding weather here on the North Coast, so I wear two athletic tees, one long sleeve one short, and my exercise capris. Any colder and I start adding layers. Well, I switch to long exercise leggings and add a base layer shirt. Around 50 - 47 I'll add a wool hat under my helmet, tie my bandana around my neck, and switch to my lovely, windproof downhill ski gloves. Below 47 I take my bike on the bus and ride home.

I am also in NY and really depends if there is any sun, what time you will be riding, and what type of riding you will be doing. Last Sunday in NY it was overcast, windy, and a high of 54 degrees and we started at 8:00am when it was like 49 degrees. I was doing an event that mainly was back roads. I did a Gore Windstopper Thermal Base Layer, Gore thermal jersey, thermal gilet, really thin neck gaiter, thermal cap, light gloves, light winter tights, and shoe toe covers. On the climbs I would unzip my layers a bit but combing down the hills I would be fully zipped with my gaiter up over my face.

This is to say cold is very subjective and also depends on how much body heat you generate and how much you tend to sweat. If I was riding today with a high of 64 here in NY I would probably try and get away with toe covers, regular bibs, thermal jersey, and a thermal gilet. I might skip the thermal cap but I probably would start the with gloves if I started with the weather below 60 degrees. This is all to say fall weather around here can be tricky because the this morning it was like 44 degree but by 4pm it should hit the mid sixties so again it really depends when you are riding. My whole game plan is flexible packable layers you can at bare min zip and unzip if not totally take off and roll into your pocket or even saddlebag
