You know the one, it circulated for a while, he's on the trainer doing a full effort then sort of falls onto a pad on the floor, gasping. Anyone?
Thanks...

Remember when I wrote that I was a wealth of random (and often useless) information?

C- you've impressed me, and that takes quite a bit when it comes to internet minutiae.

No. He's training for his attempt at the Kilo World Record using a Cateye CS-1000 mag trainer. It's prized for its very strong resistance unit. It's obviously strong enough to whip-up on Hoy

Here is video of the attempt.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_H...record_attempt

He fell 0.005 seconds short.

...His Mavic Io was mounted backwards for the attempt.

Yeah, he mentions this in his book... he didn't realize until he read on FGF someone pointing it out!

May I ask why the Mavic was mounted backwards?
I don't think Hoy would do something like that without reason/it was a mistake (which I doubt).

It was a mistake. He says so in the book "Heroes, Villains, and Velodromes".

On that level of racing, they don't really touch their bikes. They have mechanics do all of the setup and configurations.

In the book, he says that it was his fault. But, I think he was being the nice guy that he is and not blaming his mechanic.

I'm quite surprised a mechanic wouldn't of seen it...
I understand them not really doing anything with their bikes but riding it though.

That link isn't working for us in the USA. Do you have a link to the web page that hosts the video?

I don't think so I'm afraid, I've tried to download it in the past it's a 30min documentary about the kilo record attempt!
