yea, for the love of all that is holy, shorten those cables. You know you’ve committed a ridiculous sin. Other than that, looks like a fun bike. Not really my thing, but you’ve put forth a great first effort. Also, those campy single pivots are a great choice, so keep those. Cheers.

yes nitto parts are quality and beautiful. my whole cockpit is pretty much nitto because im OCD like that. i didnt wanna get the chrome one only because i felt like i'd be blinding people with too much shiny going on. but that rack would be perfect on a steamroller.

You're doing that bike a major disservice with those tires! Some box rims with race tires are faster than your wheel setup. The rest of the bike looks like you have it configured to go fast. But those tires!

Have you had it all 26 years? If so then you really have taken good care of it from what I can see. Its funky and awesome at the same time, I like it!

Also, just out curiosity, how much does it weigh?

Yes I've had it 26 years and this Zipp2001 bike has a crazy twin sister that is the same age but with a set-up I used for ultra marathon cycling events, time trails, and was a daily ride for 10 years. Never bothered to weight, so no idea of weight.

They do hang out in the spare office every now and then.

99% of the time I run my tri-spokes, or the tri-spoke with disc. The wheel in the pic I got by trading a original Zipp2001 break set, and have only rolled out with it for a couple rides in the 3 years I've had it. Doesn't matter what wheelset you have if you don't have the motor, so I'll stay in snail mode.

Got to put this one together and take it for a test ride today. It rules. Pictures really don't do the paint justice -- it looks beautiful in person. Going to put a stoppy boi on the front and do a fresh bar wrap once my brake levers get delivered.

Thanks y'all. Here it is set up for road riding (I'll throw a bottle cage on there eventually). Took it out for a 25 miler today, and this bike rides beautifully.

Beautiful big block! One of the prettier builds on the new frameset. Like to see the black components over silver

Also, on a related note, I recently finished my big block build that I was talking about in the other thread.

It was a fun project to buy and build and I can say that I am also having fun riding it

Impatiently waiting for saturday

I found a fixie today at my local bike co op, didnt get a picture but i had them hold it for me and im picking it up saturday. Its got these thick light purple rims on a black frame. Has front and rear brakes and im thinking about riding a little bit with both brakes for a while then removing the back brake and eventually going brakeless. Best part is its only $75 and i can voulenteer fixing bikes to earn a discount. Anyway ill be back saturday with greasy hands and a new bike

Great bike @antmaster5000. Love the white accent triangle between the frame/fork/saddle. Could do without the trendy Rapha bottle though

So I did some things.

First I stripped it back down to the bare frame and fork and degreased everything and cleaned it up. After that I stripped the paint on the chainring, stem and top cap and repainted them satin black. I added disc rotor bolts to all the eyelets to give it more of a finished look.

I bought a few parts to make it a little better. I added a chain tensioner from Amazon to allow me to flip between my 16t and 17t freewheels and not rely on a "magic gear",picked up a zero setback seatpost to shorten my reach a bit, picked up a actual threaded to threadless stem adapter rather than using my DIY adapter, replaced the pitted chrome headset with a Ritchey Logic in black, replaced the crappy plastic covered steel cantilevers with a set of Tektro mini Vs, and replaced the rusted seat binder with a new alloy one.

Currently I'm rebuilding a wheelset with Shimano 105 Champagne hubs that I also painted satin black and are laced to some hard ano box section Sun Mistral rims.

All in all this has been a fairly cheap and easy SS gravel conversion. Hopefully the box section rims will ride better than the semi deep boat anchors on it now.
Before.....

After

Edit: I can't seem to make my phone take good pics. It's hit and miss.
