Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Nasty and I don’t want to know what precious and fragile piece of the ecosystem it destroys.

One of my cycling friends (who also does an IM every 2 years) is seeing ELO tonight. I am jealous envious.

On yesterday’s Hill Hell ride, one rider showed up with a shiny new Emonda. It had a reddish tinged metallic paint job that was gorgeous.

He said it was a loaner from the LBS while they work on his current bike. I don’t know if it was the bike, but he did beat me up every climb.

Welp, I finally got up close to sunrise, but it's still too damn hot. Conditions at trailhead: 94° and 37%.

Went 47 mi and 2200’ vertical on it yesterday, which is longish for me, and came within 0.1 mph of my best time for that route, without making anything hurt, except my medial glutes, which seemed to be reacting to a slight difference in position. The ride was comfortable and stable and the handling was fantastic. I was blinded by shadows on some descents and hit some gnarly stuff without any bobbles. I was riding 53/39:12-27, whereas this has 53/39:11-25. I didn’t climb anything steep, but didn’t miss the 27. Went out again this morning and spent some time tuning the seatpost and cleat position for the 172.5mm crank arms; I was on 170s before. All in all, it’s great.

I need to put the Crux back together. My shop colleagues want to go on a "mixed road" ride this afternoon.
