I would want to know what the spec's are for the mechanicals before I gave an answer. That said, I think you could do as well with another brand but without the aforementioned info I can not be sure. I know you can buy a full carbon frame hybrid for about the same price if you add in the shipping costs of the Maxx.

Hard to say for sure without exploring similarly equipped bikes, but I'd guess it's about right. Those aren't cheap components - XT/ Deore drivetrain and brakes, quality wheelset with DT Swiss rims and Novatec hubs, equipped with rack, fenders, lights (it looks that it has a dynamo hub which is another plus).

The price is right for what it's equipped with. Now the real question is, is it worth it? IMO, I'm fine with my Acera and Tourney stuff on my 2019 Dual Sport 2, works just fine for me and I have no need for higher-end components, you may want them for whatever the reason may be.
