Lock ring substitute
I noticed this bike doesn't have a lockring, instead its got six bolts locking the cog to the hub. Sorry if this has already been covered but its new to me, whats the deal with this set up? It looks super beneficial to the reliability of the bike since you would have to worry about tightning the lockring.

Actually, I would worry more about that bolt system, since vibration could loosen the bolts. A lockring, properly tightened, cannot come loose. In practice though those bolt systems probably work just fine.

Actually, that's a super tough and reliable system, but it's very expensive and really overkill. I agree entirely that a good quality cog and lockring is totally reliable when properly installed.

yes, because we all know how unreliable these 6 bolt iso systems are for DH racing and freeride...

After more than 30 years riding motorcycles with rear sprockets that were held on with bolts/nuts, I never had one loosen. I would trust the bolt method over the locking ring any day.

Nice. That's my bike and I can tell you that the Phil cog has incredibly tight tolerances where the bolt heads recess.
