I still have a question. "We're going to yell at you" is a little vague, and even after careful study I haven't seen the answer yet. Who is it specifically that is supposed to yell? Is it whoever first spots my error? A ride leader? The guy at the back of the pace line? Or anyone, randomly? Is there a pecking order for yelling? If a person has a strong yell after a hard pull is he a stud, or do you not think of that sort of thing?
Is it acceptable to yell at yourself if you do something dumb, or would that be stepping on someone's prerogative?
Also what is the most appropriate acknowledgement? I assume that hanging your head or looking at the yeller will get you yelled at for "eyes front", so that would be an endless loop, I'm guessing a bad thing. So do you yell back something like "Roger WILCO", or is it better to ignore it with steely indifference?

If you have enough blood in your brain to be thinking about this then you're doing it wrong.
Just nod your head in acknowledgement and don't make the same mistake again.

What about the yelling pecking order? Can a newbie yell at a veteran, is there a hierarchical threshold for the person yelling or the one getting yelled at?

If the offense were something like hugging the white line at the front with the wind from the left ("guttering me"). Then it would be more a loud request than a yell. Not as immediate.
You may self yell. Loud admission of a screwup is fine.
Appropriate response is don't do it again. Nothing more or less. Yelling back is acceptable as it's acknowledgement that you heard.

Really? Even through all the arguing and all? That's pretty cruel isn't it?

I had to yell at a girl a while back while I was riding on the capital trial. At a spot where I regularly hit 27mph, she was weaving back and forth across the entire path, singing along to her earbuds. I had to creep up on her so she didn't run into me, when I got next to her I yelled HEY! She almost, but sadly didn't fall over

I haven't ridden at all during the Winter so I just went out in the garage to yell at my bikes so they would feel loved.

My new goal when I move back to Michigan is to get yelled at by OP on a ride.... which I'm not a part of.
