Finally I bought my bike last week. It is very comfortable and light weight (atleast for me).
Sun Bicycles Fritz model.

Thank you everyone who responded to my question. I am thinking to buy my next bike in the next few months. I am leaning towards hawes bike.

thank you all

Durn..... bought one bike and got the "fever". Already looking for a second after less than a month. Your garage is going to fill up quick.

An old dual-20" RANS Rocket could probably be had for around $300-400. No weight on hands, able to take a large range of tire widths from 28mm to 50+mm.

From what you describe in the bike you want, a Giant Cypress would fit the bill.

Next time consider an Electra Townie.
The base D7 model is a pragmatic choice.
PS.
Made three changes to mine.
Swapped out the stock tires for Big Apples.
Replaced the pedals with MKS touring, and
Replaced the saddle with a Brooks B-68 (not sure the saddle is still available).
Comfortable for short rides and 50 mile cruising.

It sounds like the handlebars are the main issue. I have Nitto Bosco Bars on two of my bikes and they provide a huge range of body positions. I can go from bolt upright cruiser position down to something like a time trial position with a 3 1/2 inch drop, but they require a longer stem and, preferably, a longer top tube like a touring bike.

I rode a Cypress for two years. It allowed me to really get in to riding every day. After two years I wanted something a bit more aggressive so I got a Giant Escape.
