27.5x2 vs 29x2

I can fit either. I have tubeless wheelsets for either. Right now I am running 650B Gravel King SK 48mm but I have a tonne of space. I want as much cush as possible. Is there any reason why I shouldn't go 29x2? Toe overlap, BB height, fork trail/rake, etc are not apparent issues for me.

Steering response will be slower.

Tyre weight may be more depending on model.

Slightly more front air resistance maybe.

Because of the diameter difference, the 700c is going to have better roll over characteristics (shallower impact angle), and hold speed better. There is a reason why mountain bikes have settled on 29" tires. They are faster in rough conditions.

Ultimately it may come down to how low you want to sit in the bike - which is going to depend on BB height & axle height as you have noted. Personally, I like to be able to accelerate out of a corner without pedal strike, but many would rather glide through a corner with low center of gravity. Personal preference...

Those GK-SK 650b-48mm tires are kinda slow and not too quiet.

If you have both 650 and 700 wheelsets, 650x47 and 700x28 are the same overall diameter, have one road set and one gravel set without geometry or handling changes between them. Best of both worlds

Already have a 700x35 tubeless road setup. I'm looking to compare the "gravel" options.
