Seat post snapping is pretty darn weird.
do be aware of the minimum insert mark on all seat posts and don't go above it.
I'd check your frame and seat tube to see if there was damage.
I'm assuming aluminum post.

It was a bit weird, but I don't think it was height thing. I paid careful attention to the marker when adjusting, and it snapped right at the cradle. It wss a 30 year old aluminium seatpost that had been badly mistreated in its time and seemed to be a very soft alloy. The screw holding it in place had already taken some deep gouges out of it before it became mine. Pics below.

Boy, we should call the SPCA because someone sure was abusing that puppy!
shudder to think of nether region possible injures if it had just failed on its own,.
