Based on the pictured 30t ring looking about to bottom out the BCD, and given that 86 BCD had a min chain ring size of 28, I’d say you have an 86bcd Apex. What sizes did you need?

Sorry for confusion. Clearly not 74bcd (actually 86bcd) and its a 45 tooth center. I guess that if I keep the 45 and the 30 I'd need something in the middle. Not sure if it's worth it to have a triple with say 45/38/30 instead of just a 45/30 double, excepting that I never seem to leave the smaller chainring (39 tooth) on my road bike except on steep downhills. Also just a guess but maybe shifting would be pretty smooth. I'll seek out a 37 or 38 tooth and test that theory.

Cleaning out a few old bins and so

1. Have some stuff to give FREE for actual shipping only: crankset arms Shimano 105 for Octalink, 170, covered in random spraypaint but threads are OK.

Pair of MTN Bike handlebar extension arms with thin padding, caps and bolts, black, steel (no idea of brand)

Pair of single pivot Exage calipers, short reach, all OK but seem to have only one each of the little black plastic spring ends (unless Exage only used these on one side) TOP pair in the pic,

the crankarms and handlebar extensions can probably go into one padded flat-rate envelope for $8.40 to any CONUSA address, the calipers may need to go in a separate small flat rate box.


2. NEED a second dual pivot caliper to "sort of match" this Tiagra,it can be a different model in sliver; but have the rear, need a front.

ALSO need the cable adjuster mech for this rear! (any Shimano stuff that fits and works on this caliper) For this trade I can offer a minty 105 caliper (BOTTOM single in the pic of 3, also a rear view) OR whatever you desire of approx equal value that I have! PM me your shopping list of trade-bait if you have the caliper I need!

UPDATE: The pair of Exage and the single 105 may be spoken for, results pending.
I still want some dual pivot front caliper to match the Tiagra and
the paint-y 105 crankarms and bar extensions still are free for the cost of shipping

UPDATE TO THE UPDATE: The 105 caliper is no longer spoken for, so if you want this single brake LMK by PM, ALSO I got the match for my single Tiagra so no longer need that item, the rest (Crankarms/handlebar extensions) are still available for cost of shipping only, and I should have some additions later
UP-UP-UPdate: I spent about 15 mins with some "Goof-off" paint remover on a rag and got about 90% of the paint removed from the front of both crankarms, about 50% off both backs. Another 15 mins and I might have them all sparkling clean (but don't want to spoil all the fun!) Somebody grab these before I ruin eveything and make them beautiful! TOO LATE: the paint is 99.9% gone, see what you made me do??!! Now I have to take more pix and upload, jeesh! NOW: the 105 crankarms are spoken for, postage pending, down to the bar extensions (and have to figure out what to do with that single 105 caliper since I don't need to trade it now)

ISO Campy 8-Speed rear derailleur for a future build. Chorus would be ideal, but I'll entertain all options compatible with the older Campy pull ratio of 1.4 to work with my 8-speed ergos. 'Not too fussy about cosmetic condition. Please advise if you have something.

It is close....has the four small tab nibs and a screw in the center. I'm hoping that's a washer where the base of the screw is, because I don't have that raised portion. The LX was the premium line just above the DX.

Also I don't have that raised table where the nibs are....mine is flatter. .....

Would would you want for it? What I've learned about these Shimano parts is that they don't interchange well between lines.

I can't see it being worth the cost of shipping across the border seeing as it's not correct and because you're right, Shimano were masters at creating non-interchangeable parts.
Also, DX was one level up from LX until XTR took over the top and DX was dropped.
There's a detailed and fascinating page about a guy determined to repair your exact shifter. (maybe you?) Have a good read here and if you still want this, PM me and we'll get it to you.

I just bought this German-made, Union-branded Polybaronex frame today for the parts, and have since stripped it. This weird thing is an aluminum-tubed frame with plastic lugs and a steel fork. That's right, it's a reverse Alan Carbon. Or a lesser attempt at a Bridgestone Kabuki. Or something. I started a thread on it.

All I know is that I'm not kicking the remains to the curb without giving you guys a shot at it.

Hence, the frame and forks are up for grabs, along with the aluminum and plastic wedge-type seatpost, which doesn't work anymore. The post used to be lined in plastic, which is now gone, resulting in a too-small seatpost and a properly sized plastic wedge. You could fashion a proper replacement using an aluminum post.

At any rate, I'm offering the frame + fork up for the cost of shipping, plus an interesting trinket in trade that'd make the effort of packing this historical oddity POS worth it.

Quick specs:

• Frame designed for 700C
• Nutted brake mount
• Rear brake bridge accepts a Pletscher two-bolt rack
• Internal frame lighting wiring (cut)
• Thompson BB included w/o chainguard bracket
• Can include the incomplete shell of the front headlight.

I've used Channellock type pliers to remove a few Helicomatic freewheels. Works pretty well. A lot easier than several stuck Suntour freewheels I've had.

Anyone have a crappy Nuovo Record front/nutted caliper, complete or parts? Need one to match an equally crappy rear on a crappy build that (unfortunately) does not involve the Box O'Crap.

Also ISO a black Soma Sparrow bar. Anything under 560mm.

I'm in need of a Suntour AG rear. Disraeli Gears shows two models--the RD-5000 and the RD-5600:

I have a pretty good example of the 5000, but I need the higher-capacity 5600. I'd be happy to trade one for the other, although my guess is that anyone who has a 5600 is more likely to want to get rid of it altogether, perhaps in exchange for something more, shall we say, refined? I also have a pretty good assortment of other Suntour road RDs from the late 70s/early 80s, if that appeals to anyone as a possible trade element.
