Masters track Worlds changes
I just got the email from Travis Smith about changes for this year.
The biggest change is that Team Pursuit is now 4km for men and women and 4 riders for women.
There was a rumor that other distances like IP might be aligned with elites, but that didn't happen. Though the email implies the possibility that those distances might have been proposed to match elites and then negotiated back down.

Here is the full list.
1- Team Pursuit for both men and women is now 4000m with four riders for all age categories.
2- Points Race, Men, and Women, If more than 24 riders, qualifying (half distance) as per 3.2.117 // 10 points for gaining/losing a lap for races under 20km
3- No UCI World Championship Keirin or Madison, unfortunately. BUT I will be running a NON-Championship Madison for Men to honor one of our late members that were instrumental in our Velodrome development. The Chris Reed Memorial Madison will take place 9/13 where a trophy will be awarded to the winners of the 25km event. Please make sure to email the Championship Director if you are interested in competing with your teammate's name as this will be limited to 12 capable teams for safety.
4- All other events for both men and women will remain the same as last year.
---
I REALLY wanted them to make the pursuit 4km... Oh well.

There was a rumor afoot that the women's 500 would go away to be replaced by a kilo. Another said that the women's team sprint would be three riders, like the men. Both proved false. I kinda wish there was a three rider TS, that would be fun! The kilo, though...I dunno!

A lot of TS friction is who wants to ride with whom. I'm sure it's worse with TP, though.
Not to mention that there are those who ride one of the 3 positions better than other positions. Rider ability can vary greatly if they are riding Man 1, 2, or 3. Then if you ride on longer than a 250M, then it gets nuts. Masters was at Marymoore a few years ago...400m long
It would be easier for riders to make teams if men rode 2 laps than if women rode 3.

That being said, I do believe that both men and women should ride the same distances for all events. I've never heard a good reason why there are different distances.
If I could have any change happen, it would be that men and women rode the same distances. Maybe juniors go shorter.
I also think that the 500m should be (re) offered for men as well as the kilo. It used to be a men's event a while back. Basically, 500m and 1000m for both men and women. The demands for both events are different.

^Says the record holder in 2k
(Sadly I've got to try to beat Kent if I wanted the 3k while I'm in Mexico, which by my figures is almost impossible!)

I'm a strident feminist who wants gender equity in sport...
...but I REALLY don't want to have to do a kilo
It's bad enough being girl 2 in the TS and having to go through the rounds. For my nationals, it opens with the TT and then TS, so I'll have to do 3-4 500s in a day. And that's just day 1!

I need to find a second for 60+ team sprint, for Nats and Worlds.

That's the reason Gary Mandy is very competitive (multi-champion) at the 500TT, at the Sprint Match, AND at the 2k TT.... even getting podiums on the 3 races.
