Value of ‘89 Trek 950

First time posting. Looking to get a good condition’89 Trek Mountain bike for $280 off craigslist. Frame is a ‘20 true temper lugged steel in great condition with all original Mountain LX groupset. He’s also throwing in a Trek 750. I fix bikes up and give them away to kids/teens In need. I’m out in the plains 2+ hours from any bike shop. I really like older steel lugged mountain bikes but don’t know if this is a fair price considering he’s throwing in a 750 as well?

The price is not bad for both bikes. The lugged 950 was easily worth $150-$200 pre-pandemic; the 750 another $75-$100. So maybe a bit more than both were worth pre-pandemic but prices are moving up on used bikes.

In the ballpark. Both are highly sought after.

OP has photos of the 950 in his gallery - https://www.bikeforums.net/g/album/18013111 The 950 looks more like a 22" frame.

In my market, the price is good for both bikes in pre pandemic times. If they are in good working order, it's a little cheap considering the current demand for bikes.

These where manufacture listed as 22.5 if all the original decals are there should be a size decal just above the BB which was basically the XL standard for late 80's hard frame MTB's. As for price it is very good for most places with the 720 if it's in good shape I just don't know what the Colorado plains are doing bike wise this it is usually a pretty dead market almost no sellers or buyers. Myself I would have no issues with this deal both bikes have reasonable good paint that can be touched up and waxed to look like new.

The 750 could be a 91 or so Tru Temper that's a really good bike. I will bet that is not this version though. Condition is everything. Clean it's a good deal for yourself, or you just want to donate them to kids........

I had a 91 Multitrack 750 and stupidly sold it 10 years ago. (Paid $20 for it and it was mint)
