Heads up when you're entering from the Dunes end. I had just entered and suddenly there's a car driving the wrong way out the entrance. I never realized there's a slightly blind curve there until this happened. Similarly, while climbing up and out the east end rise, a guy in a Mini Cooper Countryman, who didn't want to wait for us, passes us on the left going up the downhill bike and pedestrian lanes! Fortunately, no one was headed down. I love this stretch for its solitude (lol!) and being a convenient connector on coastal rides but one sure has to be careful there.

Wow people can be so dumb... I ride there alot to.

The Back Bay trail is my usual ride for the same reason as well as that I access it from my own neighborhood. (Eastbluff side). It's also popular for jogging and walking. Some vehicle drivers are so respectful that I don't even immediately realize they are behind me. Others..., well not so much. Trying to pass cyclists on the blind curves is infuriating as are drivers who ignore that it is one-way.

I have encountered two wrong way cars over the years. One was clearly a very confused person who made a mistake and stopped almost immediately. The other was doing it on purpose who said he was doing so because he didn't want to go out "the long way." He got blocked until he turned around and then was followed to make sure he didn't do it again. Most of the cars going the right way seem to be courteous.

Closed to car traffic currently, rode it last week, they have barriers up.

I've done that ride twice in the last two weeks for my first time ever. Although I totally enjoyed the route, there seems to be a fair amount of people taking advantage of the "no cars" situation and not really watching where they're walking. I ran into (figuratively speaking) several groups that were walking side by side and hogging 80% of the road.

When it comes to the Newport Back Bay, it's going to be a multi use path in its strictest sense of the word. Many people go to the Muth Interpretive Center. Good size parking lot at the Muth Center means lots of people of all ages.

Better riding during weekdays and early morning. Weekends? Not me.

What to do if you're on it with pedestrians? Its the "would have, could have, should have" moments. The moral question more often than not, goes above the legal rights question: rights and responsibilities.
