Specialized Sirrus vs Giant Roam 3 vs Giant Escape 3
Hey. This is a great forum and community. I would like your recommedations.
I am a MBA student and live near the university area in Texas. I use a bike to goto school and nearby areas to run errands. Bought a walmart Schwinn for $250 and was great for the first month but by 3 months, after rain and lots of usage, it started to badly need a tuneup. Before I could do so,it got stolen. It also had a horrible stock seat.
Now I am looking at 3 sales deals and unable to decide.
1. Specialized Sirrus 2017. $370 with 1 free tuneup within 6 months.Many in stock.
2. Giant Roam 3 2017. $355 with free 2 tuneups/yearly.Last unit.
3. Giant Escape 3 2017. $295 with free 2 tuneups/yearly.Last unit.
I am a rough handler of bikes. Though I use the bike 90percent on pavement or road, sometimes there is a trail path that I take it to. I pedal hard, ride fast and brake hard.I change gears frequently too.
I will also probably put a small carrier in front or back for putting my bag on it. My average miles per day of riding is 3.I also dont mind riding in light to medium rain. I also prefer a seat which is comfortable.
Which among the above would be most suitable? The Roam 3 looks strong with good tyres but I have read because of the shockers and disc brakes it would require much more maintenance. The Escape3 looks too light and simple, with thin tyres while the Sirrus looks stronger(not as much as the Roam3).
I would appreciate early feedback.

Definitely The Roam 3... I rode that Bike.. its solid and will suit your needs well.. If I didn't buy the Toughroad SLR 2 I was going to buy the Roam.. it really is a great smooth riding bike.. and though the suspension isn't for real offroading.. it does help on gravel etc..
Though I recommend you ride them and see how they feel to you. That is what is most important.

I'm gonna be the odd man out - that Sirrus is a really great bike, and the seat ain't bad either!

Thanks everyone for the advice. After reading the replies, I did try out the bikes.
The Sirrus felt little stiff but had a solid grip.Speed was ok.Medium of the three.
The Escape 3 was light and fast. However, it was very stiff on even slight uneven surfaces on the road.
The Roam 3 was solid, strong feel and managed road and gravel very well with its front forks. It was slowest of the 3.
I am going ahead with the Roam 3 because of the way it managed handling and strong build. I have the option of returning it in 7 days(provided its in almost the same condition as I bought). Hopefully it turns out fine.

When I tried it out, It really did feel good to ride... and no it won't be the fastest on the road.. But it is a comfortable ride. I Was going to get that one.. I opted to get the Toughroad SLR2 instead because with my current Weight.. I was hoping the larger tires would help compensate for that and handle my weight better long term..
But I was Really close to buying the Roam.. I even have a thread on here somewhere where I was strongly considering it.. Another choice was going to be the Talon 2 or 3 which were also not bad choices.. Though, ultimately.. I am happy with my choice.
The Roam in my opinion just has that little bit extra over the escape.
Post Pictures when you can.

I've said it before, and I will say it again, as an owner of a Sirrus Comp, and a Crosstrail Sport. I love the Sirrus, but the Crosstrail is the bike I would keep if I had to remove one. It's just so much better as a do it all bicycle. Your Roam is a very close cousin to my Crosstrail.
You will love it!

Thank you guys. So far loving the Roam3. Need to get a kick stand for it. Any recommendations?
Got a front black basket from Target for keeping my one strap laptop bag and other items for when I run grocery errands.
However, it takes away from the look of the bike and makes it look a little feminine. Thinking about getting a back rack with a pannier side bag to go along with it. Any recommendations or should I get a basket (rear or side rear) to attach to the back rack. I wouldnt like the pannier bag to get stolen or affected during rain as I will rarely detach it.
Will post photos once I get the kickstand.
