Wheelsets and other hardware between...
Comparing
www.giant-bicycles.com/us/bikes-fastroad-sl
to
https://www.trekbikes.com/us/en_US/bi...olorCode=black
Assuming the "feel" and fit are extremely comparable, what I can't sift out by reading company web pages and reader reviews which bike overall is better, based on two key factors.
- How are the wheelsets/spoke count/spoke gauge (pretty sure both have double wheel wall construction)
- Gearing quality
I am ok with either kind of brake assembly that these models might come with.
Always been very happy with my Giant, but need to upgrade from my standard Hybrid model. Not interested in true Road bike model.
Thoughts?
Thanks everyone, Tim

There is a Wiki for groupsets that may help with the second part: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Groupset#MTB.2FGeneral

FX 2 is shown with hydraulic brakes * ride it a while,
then if you wish, maybe another companies after market pads will make you happier ..
work with your Local bike shop, they can upgrade the wheel , say in back to 36 spokes if it is not as such from the factory.
and give you credit for the otherwise new wheel you exchange ..
* My LBS is carrying Trek bikes ... but not Giant ...
