Recommendations for quick gravel/mountain "pack" trip?

Hey all,

Some friends and I are planning a trip for somewhere in eastern Mass, southern VT, NH, etc. We're looking to spend a day riding from a starting point to a destination that is a cabin, house, or hotel. The second day could either be biking in the area (preferably mountain biking if we're going to stay in one area) and staying at the same place or riding off over the course of the day to a new overnight spot. Some of the group won't be riding bikes and will be driving to the destinations and doing other activities. So they'll be able to take us and our bikes home at the end. We all have "trail" mountain bikes and some of us have gravel bikes we could take. Something like gravel roads, fire roads, light XC mountain bike trails are what we have in mind. Something we can ride on for maybe 6hrs a day.

Any ideas?

I just discovered the Cross New Hampshire Adventure Trail. This might do the trick!

If you enjoy beer, this seems like a very enjoyable ride. Looks like plenty of people customize it by doing smaller portions. I am working on convincing friends to join me on it sometime.

That would be so fun, we've definitely talked about that trip. This particular group has varying experience levels and i'm afraid it'd be too much for our collective legs. I think we're going to do the Cross NH Trail in October as a first trip to test the waters. If we get pumped on adventure hopefully there will be bigger trips in our future.

Hmm, I learned something new! There's also a Cross Vermont trail that connects to the Cross NH trail.
