Which of these bikes is better?

The 2007 Jamis Durango 2.0
https://www.jamisbikes.com/usa/bikes/.../durango2.html

Or the 2007 GF Tassajara
https://fisherbikes.com/bikes/bike_de...Tassajara_Disc

Oh, and are those clipless pedals on the jamis?

I think the tassajara is better spec'd...those pedals look too small to be platforms.

Both are very similar spec'd but just to be different, i would go with the Jamis. Like they all say though, test ride them both before buying one.

Btw, from what i can see, i don't think they are clipless pedals on the Jamis.

I've had an $1200 jamis exile and now ride a GF Piranha, the step down from the tass, and I think the Fisher is a way better bike. It feels better and a lot more solid. If I were you, I'd say GF is different enough from all the Treks and Specializeds in the world and go with the Tass.

Also, I keep hearing that those Hayes brakes on the Tass are really weak. What do you guys think?

What you hear is true. They lack in many things from power, to crappy modulation to brake fluid leaking out. Its probably the worst hydraulic brake i've ever tried. You will be constantly adjusting them before, after and possibly during each ride.

With the Tektro's on the Jamis, well all i can say is that they have more pistons than the Hayes.

Why don't you go with something like a Piranha and save a little money? Just a thought.

anyone notice how on the Jamis site, the specs state: "Tektro Auriga Comp hydraulic disc brakes with 6" wavy rotor", yet a look at the picture will show that the brakes are obviously mechs?
