xJAHx has been helping me out with my new SS MTB which I guess is about halfway there. Still waiting on some bits to turn up from the UK but it will be a Soma 4one5 with an On-One Superlight Carbon fork.

And this is the fork from the on-one website

Can't wait till its up and going

(P.S. Mate, that Wolfhound really is an amazing looking bike )

Gunnar Ruffian 29er. The frame is a couple years old and they came with an EBB instead of the paragon sliders they come with now.

After trolling this thread and the one about old school ANO parts, I've got something new coming in the mail sometime this week. When it gets built, I'll post the hell out of it.

I will be super duper late. But I guarantee my cove G-spot will be built up SS as soon as the parts finish coming.
Only FS/SS in the thread? The dumb builds are the fun ones!

Also, would it be uber ridiculous to throw a coaster brake on there? Cuz that is tempting.

It's finally done

I've finally finished putting my bike together so here it is. Still going to probably swap out the stem and set up the cabling a bit better, but its totally ridable and a lot of fun.

That Soma turned out niiiiiiiiice. I'm working on something right now, but it's a little more old school. I'll post photos when it ends up photoworthy.

Doesn't even compare to most of the bikes here, but it's fun. Redline MonoCog.

Just took it out for its first real ride and man I'm finding it weird. I've been riding a fixie steamroller exclusively for the last three months now and before that was a XC hardtail with slicks that feels more like a road bike than a mountain bike. Its so weird being back on a bike that is just begging to be ridden on the dirt and on the trails. Really need to swap out the stem though, the geometry sucks at the moment and as a result I'm just not getting totally comfortable with the seatpost / saddle positioning. Totally forgot that I can coast again too which was hell funny when I made the realisation Took it up a couple of hills I've been avoiding on the fix and just flew up them which was nice, especially since my house is surrounded by them. Now I just need to go find some dirt and dust.

Are you local to Clark? He's the next county over from me and I've checked his site a few times. Looks like nice work.

This is not mine but I've always thought that the Karate Monkey is the nicest frame made by Surly:

hmmmmm.... ano purple...... Not everyones cup of tea but I reckon its still got its place on a rigid ss mtb

like the saddle too. The forks don't look like they would handle much though.

Also, does anyone know the deal with cutting down a brooks like in that karate monkey? I'm not a fan of how it looks compared to with the sides intact, and I wouldn't have thought it would do the saddle much good... is there something I"m missing?

Thats a early nineties Marin Nail Trail. Critical Racing brakes, Suntour Micro Drive cranks. The purple fork and silver paint is stock so I just went with it. I'm looing for purple risers and a purp seat post.
