Amazing and a great catch. I am so glad you got it and not some scrap hauler who would have tossed in with the rusty chairs and other real trash and sent it to the smelter.

The thing that bums me is that for everyone that is saved, there must be more than a few lost.

How right you are. Couple years ago I bought a Santana tandem from a CL ad. The seller was moving and was in a rush to get rid of stuff he had no use for. We struck a conversation about vintage bikes. As I load the tandem, he pulls out a Trek 720 frame/fork in nearly perfect condition from the dumpster and hands it to me. I was shocked, didn't know if I should thank him or berate him for throwing it out. Ended up doing both; told him he should be ashamed to throw out such a nice frame, and also paid him extra for it. I still have the frame, it's the first year model without the cantis (aka 728).

The 620 has been sold and it is in the caring hands of a fellow C&V member to ship it to the new owner in PA. Maybe we will see it posted here again?

I be the fellow C&Ver. The bike is as nice as Dhorn33 describes...dang, although I'm not a Trek aficionado you just gotta love those lugs.

Have a nice long holiday weekend to get 'er packed up and hopefully out to PA on Monday.

Now, how to force myself NOT to clean and polish parts....must....resist....

You must leave the mark of Keith somewhere. Maybe it should have the shiniest stem wedge anyone has ever seen.

I agree this may be a better score than the 1984 Bianchi I ride that I picked up last summer at a garage sale for $20. ;-) If this one was my size I would love to keep it so I am a little bummed that is is too big so for now I will keep riding the Bianchi I guess.

Or the Trek 500 series that I pulled from the garbage pile at the city cleanup day a few years ago:

Freakin' show off! LOL! ;0)

If you ever get sick of that tired old Bianchi, I will be happy to take it off your hands.
I am looking for pretty much that exact bike, in that size (52cm?).
: ))

Or, on a serious note, I could trade it for my 1982 Trek 610, same size I believe.

Something very odd going on here.... When I was looking for a Flickstand a couple months ago a member here sent me one of those exact pictures of that bike to show the flickstand. I still had the pic on file. Very strange.

I just want to clarify one thing here, I am not in any way trying to accuse the OP of any wrong doing, I am just very confused as to what is going on. I just can't imagine a C/V BF Member throwing away a bike like this or any bike for that matter. Was his wife tired of his bikes and threw one out for the trash man LOL?

Something very fishy going on here......
What is fishy? That picture was taken in my front yard shortly after I picked up the bike and I posted it here on this forum? I posted it here on 10-5-10 and I specifically mentioned the flickstand so it is very possible someone on here grabbed the picture as reference. I have dozens of pictures of bicycles taken in front of that same tree in the same yard since that is where I typically put them to snap pics.

And I be the buyer in PA. A HUGE shout out to Keith for all of his help as facilitator! I can't wait to see (and ride) this beauty -- although it still astounds me that someone heaved it out in the trash!

Not sure where you got the impression that a C/V forum member threw it out. A careful re-read of the thread should set you straight.

Congrats to lanciat for having the good taste to pick this bike up, hope it serves you well for many years!
