Hi, I am a rookie of bikes. I bought my bike (Electra Townie 7D Step-Thru) several days ago and found that there's something wrong with the kickstand.
If I use the kickstand normally, it will become loosened. I checked the manual and the website, it seems there are no missing parts.
Is it by design? Is it possible that the thread locker was not applied when they assembled it? What should I do to fix it?
I live far away from the store, so I want to solve it myself if possible.

If it's coming loose from the frame, tighten it. If the leg is loose in the bracket, that's something else. Please clarify.

The kickstand of this bicycle is near the pedal, and it's a concave hexagonal nut with a small washer (circular). However, the hole through which the nut passes is an ellipse about one-third larger than the washer. Besides these, there are no other parts. After tightening the hexagonal nut, whenever I use the kickstand a few times, the washer and nut become loose, and the washer also wears off the paint around the hole. It seems like there is some movement space provided for the washer and nut by the hole.

If this is what you have, it doesn't seem to have any additional parts.

Single bolt kickstands which are standard near the bottom bracket frequently come loose. Make sure it is properly torqued and that should help but if it is still coming loose a threadlocking compounded in a medium strength (typically blue in color) can help. You could also try a different kickstand if it is not Greenfield replace it with a Greenfield. If you do have the direct mount 18mm or 40mm mounts than that is going to be the best way to mount a kickstand.

What does the shop say about it? You just bought the bike, I'm sure they'll at least make certain there isn't any reason for it behaving like that. They've made Townies in various models for many years. Perhaps they've changed the part and maybe they need to know if it's not up for the job. But if you don't go tell them, it'll just take a longer time before they find out.

If it is just the bolt going into the threaded body of the kickstand, then I might put thread locker on it. But only after exhausting what the bike's dealer was willing to do.

The hole is slotted by design so that a kickstand can be placed correctly so it does not interfere with the crankarm or your foot while pedaling. You could add a larger diameter washer under the head of the bolt and even a split lock washer. The addition of thread locker like locktite to the threads where they enter the kickstand would also help.

You need to torque it down some more. It is slotted so it can be adjusted.

Make sure you have plenty of threads left to hold well after you add a washer. You can take the bolt to a hardware store and get a longer bolt if needed. Use some removeable thread locker on there or any fingernail paint will work in pinch. If it has that plate like the red one above and isn't clamping directly to the frame tighten the snot out of it. Don't overtighten if it is clamping directly to your chain stays.

I went to the bike store and they tightened it, but it seems screwed too tight, and the washer may be dented. Thank you for providing an alternative repair method.

The proper way to fix a kickstand is to unscrew the bolt and throw the whole thing away. Then you have tons of other solid methods to prop your bike without extra headache.

^ It is missing the lock washer. There should be one on top of he flat washer.

Just in case winwin96 does not realize this: the lock washer looks like a washer which has been cut and bent slightly open, which keeps the bolt tight.
