Nice.

Kyushu is on my touring agenda. For us in Southeast Asia, Air Asia offers cheap-ish flights from KL to Busan (cheaper than flights to Fukuoka) across the Korea Strait. My plan one day is to fly into Busan and take the overnight ferry to Fukuoka to tour Kyushu.

It's a good idea. You may want to consider first getting off the ferry at Tsushima island and then the ferry to Ikki island. Both are very nice and worth exploring.

Great tips, thanks! I was not aware of these two islands. Will put them on my agenda.

My ideal touring temps is the 18-22°C and dry. What are the best months for that kind of weather in Kyushu?

For that temperature it would be spring or autumn and both have rain. Winter is the driest time here. Summer can be nice and not so hot down there but then again it may rain like hell or even a typhoon comes along. Basically plan for rain and enjoy the dry days.

yeah Tsushima Island appears to have some good deals on accommodation as I think South Koreans stopped going there after some political snafu's between the two countries
