Suggestions for a new road bike $1500
I am looking to get a new road bike. I want to spend about $1500. I previously rode a Takara and now I am ridding a single speed. The bikes I am looking at right now are Burley and Bianchi. I want a bike made by an independent company. I am looking for a steel frame and I am not too picky about components because I don't really know the difference. So if anyone can point me in the direction of some good road bikes in this price range that would be awesome.
Thanks,
Ryan

Salsa La Raza is a bike you should look at. The current model is TT OX Plat. traditional geometry and the fork and frame runs about $780 new but you may be able to do better. I rode the previous version made from Reynolds 853 last year and it is a great bike. Just for clarity as some sites have their info wrong. Blue frame = 853 Red frame = Ox Plat.

$1500 and an independent company is going to be tough. I would recommend a LeMond Croix de Fer or Sarthe, but they aren't exactly independent. I would say your best bet is Burley, honestly. Nicest quality frames for the money, and a good company. Bianchi hasn't impressed me for about the last 4 years.... the euro is hurting them... the price keeps going up and the bikes stay the same.

I think the biggest issue should be what fits your body type best. I went through this last year and found that for my shorter torso longer legs, the Bianchi fit me better than the LeMond or the Specialized.
