A friend of mine looks for excuses to shave the last few grams from his bike, I seem to look for excuses to add them!
New Simpla mudguards, Topeak Super Tourist DX rack (non-disc version, fits the Escape 1 Disc perfectly), Topeak MTX EX quick-release bag for rack, Onguard Pitbull super strong (& heavy) bike lock, eBay handlebar extension for lights etc., eBay mobile phone holder for music/GPS, tools/CO2/tubes, a big handful of ball-bungees ('cos why not?)... A handle-bar cam holder is on order for my SJ7000.
On the other hand I've trimmed almost 60mm of 22mm alloy tube off the handlebars, now only 580mm wide, much comfier to ride!
I'm well chuffed with how it's turned out. Rides well, and I love the looks.
Next, tyres, lights.

Today (last night) I added a gopro-style camera bracket to the front and a Giant speed/cadence sensor unit.
After my eBay splurge earlier I'll have to check, but I think I'm out of money for toys this month now!

Built a new wheelset. A pretty budget one. Straight 14g stainless spokes, Chinese aluminum rims, slightly used Shimano Claris hubs. Even like this it's a slight upgrade. The Claris hubs are better sealed and easier to adjust than the old Formulas. And they come with internal cam quick releases too. The rims are 19mm wide internally vs 16mm for the old ones. That was the reason for the change to begin with. I want to squeeze in every mm of tire width I can. Also they seem to better support the 40mm tires. Actual widh now 39 - 39.5mm. Before it was around 37. An LBS did the final truing but somehow the rear wheel dish is slightly off. The problem is that I think it's the best they could do. Some spokes on the drive side are rinning out of threads and I wouldn't want to realease the tension too much on the non-drive side. I couldn't source the ideal size spokes, I guess that's the price to pay. Next step is to try a ghetto tubeless setup (split tube method). Might do it this week. Let's see how it goes.

I like the bottle cages on the fork blades. It looks like your fork has just a single mid-point mount (on each side), and you used that in one of the cage holes and zip-tied the lower cage to the fork? Great idea!

Exactly. I've had one cage mounted this way for a while, but now I got a matching pair. Since taking the photos, replaced the screws and washers with smaller black ones for a more inconspicuous appearance.

I got my freehub rebuilt at the LBS because I completely destroyed one of the ball bearings in it, which basically destroyed the bearing track and left mettle metal fragments floating around the inside of the assembly.
The guy at the shop said they just go bad sometimes and it was probably a defective ball bearing from the factory that gave out after 15 months. I like to assume that the bike rider (me) was just putting so much torque on the system with amazingly powerful legs that the bearing just disintegrated under the raw power.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
Oh...then I was a dumbass and asked the shop guy to show me other bikes that would be faster and lighter than my Crosstrail. Now I want 5 new bikes.

The LBS put an adjustable stem on my Trek DS2 to bring the handlebars up to the height of the seat. My hands/wrists felt better on the way home. On the other hand I felt as aerodynamic as a barn door.

Fixed a slow leaking puncture. Great advice I learnt on these forums was to always align the tire logo with the valve so as to make it easier to locate the puncture and inspect the affected area on the tire and also to pass a cotton ball inside the tire so it would snag on whatever sharp little piece that's sticking out and that might be hard to see.

yup, swapped out the 'flat-bars' for 'butterflies' on the old Fuji.
I just need my bar wrap order to be delivered.
the old fuj...now with butterflies

A buddy of mine, who also happens to be a fairly decent bike mechanic, is coming over later today (Friday) and we're going to put new brake cables, new wheels and a new chain on my Giant Roam-2. Any necessary adjustments will also be made.
I love my Roam-2. What a fun bike to Fred around with.

The last thing I did was use cable ties to group the handle bar cables together for a cleaner look. Before that I added a MTB tool kit under my water bottle cage.

Made the world's most pointless lateral sidestep, replaced the EXCELLENT Specialized Zee Cage with a Specialized Rib Cage II:

I think I have a pathological need to hack everything on my bike. Today was the turn of the newly installed nylon bottle cages. I like how they are flexible and adapt to different size bottles, but since they're not fully closed, the bigger bottles, when full, tend to pry themselves out when things get bouncy. Here's the solution which cost me nothing.

Still tweaking things off and on throughout the day amidst the house cleaning but....new saddle, lowered the stem, and moved the grips in. Debating chopping the bars down, but I need more ride time before I commit to that

I knew the chain was going to need changing soon, and took the bike to my LBS. The suggested changing the cassette as well. The shifting had not been great for a while. I was surprised about how reasonable the cassette cost. I am looking forward to riding tomorrow to see how different the shifting feels.

Fitted some cheap replacement pedals on my Trek FX 7.4. The original ones were uncomfortable with trainers and the screws were constantly coming loose. The cheap pedals are a stopgap until some MKS Lambda pedals arrive. The decision to buy Lambda was taken because they seem to be a popular recommendation on the Bike Forum.

Trying out a new saddle on my flat bar Madone. The WTB Speed Sport saddle seems to be able to absorb road buzz/vibrations, enough that I am noticing the effect over the stock saddle. Still too early to tell if it will be more comfortable over the long term as I only got 1 quick ride on it.

I got the bottom bracket on my 2018 Giant Escape Disc tightened and lubed this morning. It had been creaking and cracking really badly. Bike sounds much better now.

I added some bar ends to the interior of my handlebars for an alternate grip option. $7 from Nashbar...can't go wrong. Though I may need to add some bar tape for softness because I'm delicate.
I also made a bracket that bolts up to the standard size screw holes on the bottom of my saddle to give my Cygolite Hotrod 50 a more streamlined factory original look. (This is combined with a Hotshot 150 mounted to the rear rack for maximum visibility. The Hotrod 50 by itself is insufficient in the day time. It makes a good supplement to the Hotshot 150 in the daytime and it's enough by itself at night.)
