Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Insanity...

All you wieght wienies can just give it up, you'll never be diety status, like this guy and his exalted beast. Your dedication pales in comparison. Pure overkill reached only by psychos of high caliber.

Should have went with a set of German MEILENSTEIN OBERMAYER LIGHTWEIGHT SCHWARZ Edition Wheels as they are lighter then what he has on there by almost 100 Grams for the set..

Head over to Weight Weenies and look at the lightweight threads.

Lots of guys are building 9 lb bikes and putting big miles on them.

Gunter Mai was probably started the whole uber-light movement put 20k miles on a 3.2 kg bike.

Used TESA tape for bar tape...I can't see that stuff having much cushion at all. It's usually used to loom up wire harnesses in cars. GM likes to use it a lot. Just enough fuzziness to keep stuff from rattling under the dash. It's fairly tough but I can see the fuzz/softness of it coming off on your hands in fairly short order.

"Hang on tight going downhill." A little noodly, perhaps?

I am glad they didn't list the prices for all those parts. he probably pays more for bolts than I spent on my group set.

I actually wouldn't mind some carbon fiber bolts for a few grames off my denali build, that actually needs it. Still thinking if I should repaint or not after I strip off the super thick single stage paint.

Nope. Too much effort. I'll take a guess at 10lbs, though.

BTW...Are you aware that Buddy Ebsen was originally cast as the Tin Man? Shortly after filming began he developed severe respiratory problems from the aluminum powder used in his makeup. He nearly died. He was quietly replaced with Jack Haley and the makeup changed.
