1988 Miyata Twelve Hundred Seatpost Diameter

My understanding is that the Twelve Hundred takes a 27.0 seatpost. I purchased a used Thomson Elite for it, and it's too big. Anyone have any ideas what might be going on?

The 88 catalogue doesn't give the spec for the 1200 post, but the 1000, 1000 Lt and the 912 all are listed as taking a 26.8, so I'm not surprised.

Every Miyata road bike we sold in the mid and late 80's used a 26.8mm post. The 1200 is certainly one of them.
