I used to visit Facebook when they were in Palo Alto before they moved to Menlo Park. Obviously you couldn’t help but be at Stanford as well. While I was out there in CA I’d visit with Apple and Google, too. I even rode one of the Google cruisers...

Yes, I seem to recall seeing you at the early part of Mulholland. I started that ride too early and rode the last half off the front. The final rest stop was not open when I got there. No water. The last 20 miles were rough.

Anyway, he was 'awarded' his car upon retirement and he moved to Florida... I bought the car from his estate in 2006. The engine was a leaker - not sure if it had 96k or 196k on it when I bought it. I couldn't have it 'marking it's territory' everywhere I parked, so an engine rebuild was needed... Since this was my daily driver - and also used to tow another racecar to the track, AND the stroker crank was cheaper than getting the stock crank turned, it turned into a 393W-stroker. The 393W uses a 3.85" stroke crank (vs the 351 3.5" stroke), the stock 351W rods, and 302/5.0 pistons... In other words, a budget stroker! Strictly used for more towing 'grunt'... ...
The 'problem' was that I needed to keep it emissions-sniffer-test legal. Sooooo.... I did my due diligence/research and came up with a combo that worked to my favor - so much so that my 9.4:1 compression 393W stroker 'kit' is one of the more popular combinations out there, and marketed by a major player...
Soooo... The short answer is that this dual-duty Crown Vic is now pumping out more than twice the horsepressure than it did in stock form. It routinely turned low 13-second 1/4-mile passes.. Best ET to date was a 13.06 @ 106.55. Not bad for a balding, gray-haired, middle-aged old fart driving his four-door 'Grandpa-mobile'.....
Oh, and the contingency stickers are stuck to sheet magnet and kept in the trunk when I'm not racing....

I was running the car I'm leaning on in the first pic - my '89 Crown Vic. An original G-code 351W with the full police package in a loaded-with-everything LX-trim. Meant to be a gov't official's car. Mine was originally for a NJ Fire Chief as his 'retirement car' - the 'chief's car' he got to keep upon retirement.
Anyway, he was 'awarded' his car upon retirement and he moved to Florida... I bought the car from his estate in 2006. The engine was a leaker - not sure if it had 96k or 196k on it when I bought it. Heading out on a solo charity ride.
For the past 10 years I participate in Cycle for Survival that raises funds for rare cancer research for Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Normally the final event is a nationwide series of spin sessions. Due to Covid the event was virtual, so since I don't normally spin, i did a solo ride to visit my 3 friends that died of cancer before they reached 60.
75 miles, 15.8mph average, 2400 calories and 1600' of climbing over 6 hours with a few breaks to refill my water bottles and some nourishment.
I raised $5,126, and our team raised $51,809 in total.
In total, Cycle for Survival raised $23,603,435 this years and over $285,000,000 since 2007.
