What the heck is that, oh, nevermind.
Yesterday the VA gave me my first hearing aids. I also received my package of a new bottom bracket and crankset from UPS. Today I installed the parts on my topstone. Threw it up on my stand, a couple of fine adjustments, and took it for a shakedown ride to check it out. The noise I was hearing made me think the bike was coming apart under me. That was when I remembered the new hearing aids and realized how much I was missing before them. Most of what I was hearing was the wind and "birds" and not any bike sounds except the clicking coming from the back. It is funny how much I was missing before but not so funny how deaf I am without them. The bike was perfect but I am still getting used to these aids. I thought it was my wife mumbling these past few years, I guess I was wrong. I should probably apologize for all the times I told her she was not speaking clearly huh. Be safe all.

And you thought that derailleur was so smooth because you never heard a clunk when shifting!! Welcome back to hearing the world.

Some of the guys I ride with got those fuzzy things that fit on helmet straps. Their hearing aids made the wind noise too distracting.

I wear ear buds out on the open roads (all my rides are solo) to keep me company...and buffer the annoying wind noise. Glad to see your hearing aids are opening up the world for you. Enjoy!

Auditory feedback is an important part of staying safe and keeping your bike in good order. Congrats on your improved hearing, and your successful mechanic work/crank-BB upgrade.
