This is really cool. A custom is so amazing vs production line. Unimaginable hours put into, just from the conceptual/ idea of build, tube, lug selection and then the magic happens, next comes the laborious paint.......this and that.... to attaching final part.

BTW, color is gorgeous and that chain guard is quite something. Custom made?

My vote goes to my custom Scissortail track bike.

PAinted to match my former mid life crisis mobile with gold leaf detailing on the top tube and fork legs
The car is now gone, but due to the custom specced geometry, im likely keeping the bike for eternity

But since the only thing retro on that bike is the fact that its made of steel - i'll vote for either my Colnago or DeBErnardi as a tie for prettiest C&V machines in the fleet
the pearl paint job on the DB was sprayed by the same person who did the track bike I believe and simple iPhone pics don't do it justice

Neato!

These Grand Sprints are surprisingly nice. Had done one up a few years ago, same time as re-doing a Le Champion (R-531 tubed). The Vitus 888 frameset was probably lighter, I forget exactly but it was really decent and super fun rider.

Also swapped parts out to Campy N. Record, retained crank but the most significant improvement was having 700c and tubulars.

You did a great job on the one you built up.

I had mine out today. I love the way this bike handles. You are right; these really do punch above weight. Great bikes!

I've never ridden tubulars, so I'll take your word on that. But you never know what the future holds. Maybe one day.

I guess I can't post pics yet, but the Miele is my go to ride and never fails to get a thumbs up.

Colnago Technos

1st generation Colnago Technos ca 1990.

I got the frame from a local frame builder back in 2006. He'd taken it in as partial payment on a custom frame.

It was so over the top that I decided to make it an uber frankenbike. I had an NOS 1987 vintage Shimano Deore XT MTB gruppo that I used for the hubs and running gear plus lots of other non Campy/Italianate stuff. The prototype Bontrager brakes approach retinal detachment when I lock em up!

Super light fun to ride bike.

I have a few nice bikes. But if the house caught fire and I could only get one out, it'd be my Merckx 7-Eleven.

I am going forward with my Grand Sprint after seeing this one. Mine is orange metallic with no stripes , but otherwise very close. I paid $20 for it minus the wheels and I have a set of Gentleman's that I plan on putting on it. I love the branded cranks and will keep them , but like BFisher, throw some Campy stuff at it! Joe

Not my favourite ride but aesthetically it's this or the Faggin. Or the Holdsworth Special. And some days it's the Carré track bike.
