No. Seems most of that stuff is kept hush-hush, I think in large part due to "borrowing" by the other software analysis people.

It got a little wet here yesterday (>10" of rain) but cleared out overnight so I went out on my scheduled ride. There's a road I do my intervals on because I have 30 minutes of riding without a stop sign or light. On the only way to get there, I ran into this:

That lump about halfway across on the right? That's a car. Even the 4x4s were turning around rather than try to cross.

Might have to ride after work (I get off at 6) to get my workout in.

Found an excuse to get out this morning that included forgoing breakfast. Quality suffered but I got pinpoint exact feedback on short hard efforts. On the plus side I can feel my legs are ready to train them now. Block long stop signs intervals, sharp incline hills, record allergy season, !!!.

Ridding all TT like efforts from my rides starting today. Last Saturday I got top 5 on a cat 4 hill and couldn't hold power up .1 mile of 12%. I gave up trying to work on this last month because it wasn't happening no matter what. Feels amazing being able to sense how weak you are feels versus nothing.

I need to bring my flonase into work because I always realize I forgot to take it the minute I get here after riding in and my allergies are exploding.

Yeah, I am transitioning from endless flu to allergy season. I expect I'll be able to breathe normally by September.

I tried TMonk's VO2max workout this morning.

3' @ 337w
5' @ 315w
5' @ 318w
5' @ 315w
3' @ 341w

Struggled a bit on the 5' intervals, but it sure made the 3' ones seem short.

What kind of recovery between work intervals?

Also, happy belated birthday.

Today, I'm going to try to hold 400w for as long as I can, 4 times. I strongly suspect that it's going to suck.

If you truly did that with 100% commitment, wouldn't it blow you out for the rest of your workout???

An hour of unstructured openers before the big storm hit. Generally just trying to ride hard or steady. Legs feel good despite less than 4 hours of sleep last night. Damn lab reports...

3 day stage race starts tomorrow. Rr on Friday, Mass start hill climb and crit Saturday and another road race on Sunday. Pretty excited to race in a non collegiate field. Saturday evening will be tough with the race ending around 8.30 and trying to get to sleep afterwards for a other race on Sunday.

That was interesting.

1. 3:16 @ 411w
2. 2:13 @ 417w (Crested a hill near the end of it and couldn't get the gear spinning hard enough, probably could have gone longer on this one)
3. 2:31 @ 406w
4. 2:08 @ 407w - tried to stand at the end of this one, which got the power up, but once I sat down again I couldn't push it past 390 anymore.

The weird thing was I expected it to hurt a lot worse, but it seems like the point where the power started to taper off was a bit before the point of severe suffering. I was kind of hoping these would be closer to 4 mins, but I think I picked the wrong segments of road for the first two, and I moved my anaerobic work from Tues to Weds so I may not have been as fresh as I could have been.

Two road races in one weekend sounds rough.

Yeah, we'll see how it goes. For the 3's, Friday is 55 miles with not a ton of climbing. Hill climb is 4 miles averaging some gross percent (1825 feet), crit is 50 minutes and the last road race is 68 miles. Going to be a tough weekend.

That's about how it would go if I tried that. 400 is exactly my 5 minute pr, so I'd prob hit 3 minutes, maybe 4, on any random day. Then 2 to 3 minutes after that.

It was about that with my old PM, not sure if I could do quite 400 for 5 in 'real watts'.

@TMonk I just did it around my home, check my Strava

Today's a z1 day, then racing & volunteering at the crit tomorrow (probably riding the 20 miles or so out as well), and then big gear work Sunday. In the rain. Yuck. I'd been hoping to get some good mileage in along with it, but not sure how I'll feel about that in the damp.

i think if i tried that id just set a PR for how long I could hold 400W and then not do any other repeats.
