^ To a shop with a focus on new sales those probably just look old and they're in the way. Also they probably took them on trade for a new bike and didn't pay much for them. Just a guess mind you.

Prelude In 105L Minor

* Schwinn Prelude, 53cm Columbus Tenax frme*

"Hey there! Here on sale is a 53 cm Schwinn Prelude with a Columbus Tenax frame! The frame has some blemishes and slight surface rusting but it's an incredible value! Make it your daily driver with not a care I'm the world! It has a newer high quality saddle, newer seatpost, replaced (lower quality) rear wheel, 105 left crank arm and new bar tape and chain. All else seems original! It rides out perfectly!

I have just tuned, cleaned and tes-driven this bike, everything is super smooth and not a problem in the world!
$175, call or text (434) 851-9412 to buy. Thank you and God Bless!"

Here's one not too common Paramount. Tourist model. I'd be a buyer, not a poster, if it were my size. I'd been looking for a hybrid type bike for a while and have focused on this model. They don't come up often. If you see a bigger one somewhere, please let me know.

Very cool! What size frame do you think it is? Looks large for 53. Also think trusting this guy to ship is asking for trouble.

It's in "just alright" shape, but it looks to be the real deal.

70's Raleigh International, 56cm, $300. Looks to me like if one wants to go for this bike it'll need quite a few new components, new paint, polishing of chrome, etc. But it's an international!

https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/...414295723.html

Edit: Ho! Found a Fuji America for a hot price. Looks to be in great condition. 60cm, $160.

https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sf...401858414.html

EditEdit: Also, quite a nice Gunnar sport with dura ace, and other nice components. Looks like it was ridden, but not intensely. 56cm, $600.

https://losangeles.craigslist.org/ws...400181869.html

P.S. if you can't tell i'm looking around for a touring bike

1987 Bridgestone T700

$375. Bit high, but the frame is in great condition. It's been listed for at least a month so maybe they'll accept less.

Great condition, 53 cm- sizing fits 5'7- 5'9 person , Suntour components. Great commuter.

Yep. I think the frame is worth $200. It started out at $350 many months ago. Chicago CL is dead. Other than a few oddballs that like these vintage bikes, there really isnt much C&V interest in the Chicago area or anywhere really. Disc brakes, brifters, carbon fiber, thats where its at.

Looks like George Garner Schwinn in Northbrook. I dont know how bike shops survive, though this one has been around a looonnng time. They have a wall of VAR tools that are amazing. Frame straightening, fork straightening, wheel dent puller, big beefy tools. I drop in there now and then and always mention, "if you want to sell those tools....."

Back before V brakes and something of the ill fated Schwinn history is this early 1980's Sidewinder for $300. Too high of a price yet its interesting enough for vintage atb collectors, complete and part of the Schwinn story. Schwinn executives didn't take seriously enough to the mtn. bike craze and we know the rest of the story.

Anyways....

Likely they don't even know what those tools are or how to use. If they're anything like the Libertyville store, most shameful to outright embarrassing. Worst customer service I've seen plus beyond belief what I know they did to another rider and his Gitane TdF 'full restoration'.

Repainted with decals- check
Took the original old parts to the junk bin and did a retro upgrade yet with DT shifters, aero b. lever, etc.
Brakes were in horrendous non adjusted positions.
Mounted the Cateye handlebar mount computer upside down.

tab for the damages.... $1800

customer paid.

You want to play with them, give them an old tubular wheel and ask to have them glue and mount a tire. Major goopaholics, they take three to four tubes of Conti glue per wheel. LOL

Someone should save those Paramount frames, low ball just might get them.
