Cyclocross and Gravelbiking (Recreational) This has to be the most physically intense sport ever invented. It's high speed bicycle racing on a short off road course or riding the off pavement rides on gravel like : "Unbound Gravel". We also have a dedicated Racing forum for the Cyclocross Hard Core Racers.

Single speed frame options

I race singlespeed, and have been riding on a clunky, heavy Motobecano Fantom Cross Uno frame. I'm looking to upgrade this year, and I'd like to weigh all of my options. Ideally, I'd go custom at get a rock lobster or something of the like, but I don't have the funds for that. Not really sure what my budget it as of right now.

What are the singlespeed options out there this year?

Kona's Major One:

I think Felt has a fairly cheap one too. I think I remember the Major One being a fairly light frame too, if that matters. Though I'd have to say custom steel is the way to go if you can save a year or two to pay for it

I haven't used them, but that page says you may need to use a half link, which seems like that would mean there isn't room for lots of adjustment for switching gears. I switch rear cogs pretty often for my cx races, so that would be important to know.

What's the likelihood of having too much rAw PoWeR and pulling the real wheel out of vertical dropouts?

I would say virtually none. The direction of power would just push against the frame, so it wouldn't go anywhere. If it were possible, it would probably happen to road riders too, and I've never heard of it happening.
